Kollur mookambika temple is the favouritest place of mine. The temple is a great example of southindian temple architecture. The deinty mookambika devi has a story behind it it is believed that swami shankaracharya brought the devi at kollur and after it the shrine was built up. mookambika devi is said to be like " sri mahakali, sri mahalakshi, sri mahasaraswati aikyaroopa sri mookambika " ie. all the three devis residing in the same deinty or moorthy. one can reach the temple by roadways, railways the railway station recommended is"mookambika road(byndoor)" trains recommended are matsyagandha express; manglore express; netravati express; mangala lakshwdeep express and many more.
The scenic beauty is filled with rich lush green forest of karnataka. kollur is is above a hill so various buses, taxis, autos are available to reach the place.There are many lodging homes availacle some of them suggested are of temple trust itself souparnika guest house and lalithambika guest house. other private lodges are amma residency; hotel myura guest house, hotel mookambika palace, hotel devi kripa and many more. Annadhanam facility is also provided by the temple. There is a golden chariot of devi the temple. Its a awesome temple must vist.
