Memories associated with an Iron box

As a kid my mom used to teach us to do household chores and motivate us with recognition and rewards.Recognition came in the form of either surprising us by taking us out for movies or restaurants and rewards in the form of cash or gifts.(now you see where my love for gifts has come from).

One such reward came when we ironed our clothes. We used to have a heavy Rowenta Iron with Steam but the steam never functioned. As it was got from abroad and those days there was no service centre to repair the Steam functionality we used it as a regular iron box.

I remember those were the days when steam irons were not popular in our country and one got them from abroad.Mom used to give us 25 paise for each cloth ironed on Sunday afternoon. What a lovely way to teach a child to do their own work.It was quite a heavy box and I often complained about the weight I had to hold.

I was not old enough or creative enough to invent a lighter one but some soul did think of it and as a result today we have different brands selling good steam irons.

When I moved to Mumbai, I felt the need for an Iron box as I strongly believe in wearing crisp neat clothing. I settled for Koryo’s steam Iron cause I just wanted one in emergency.I didn’t have high opinion about Koryo so at the time of purchase I felt it was fine if it works in emergency. Moreover one year back I didn’t know Mouthshut existed.

Koryo costs around Rs.900 but varies in shops.I remember getting some disount on an online purchase from Rediff. It’s been more than a year since this white and blue fella came home and he is doing a good job.

For starters he is light enough to travel all over India with me:).Heats up quick and gives continuous steam at the click of a button. He impresses me by removing all the stubborn creases easily with an even heat distribution but the only place he doesn’t score more than Rowenta is in the pleasure of the 25 paise and the memory of feeling proud to earn it.I remember how I used to accumulate all those 25 paise and get something I wanted.

Oh the pleasure of delayed gratification is something I miss!

Memories are a private literature but sometimes it is nice when they are shared with friends or strangers. This time I am sharing them in the form of a review.Hope it solves your purpose. Will be glad to answer any queries on the usage of the product based on my experience with it.
