He fooled us in Koi Mil Gaya, he does it again. Why so? In Koi Mil Gaya, Rakesh who plays a scientit sends sound waves in space and contacts with the aliens. That is par impossible. Sound waves need a medium to pass. Since it is vacum in space, how the hell can he send sound waves??! In Krrish, he makes another huge mistake which cant be ignored. Alright, lets keep the mistake aside, the main thing is thar Krrish disappoints. Phir Hera Pheri was a dud for me, so is Krrish to some extent. Mainly because the plot is not so great.
PLOT
Krishna(Hritik), the son of Rohit Mehra inherits all the super powers from his dad. His dad got all of them from Jadoo, the alien in Koi Mil Gaya. In order to hide the extra-ordinary powers of Krishna, Rekha, his grand mom, and Krishna both live in the mountains where Krishna makes friends with the birds and animals. One day, a group of campers arive there. Sonya(Priyanka) is a also a part of them. Krishna saves her from a terrible accident. Both of them become friends and before long fall in love with each other. Then Sonya leaves for Singapore where she actually lives. In order to save her job, she calls Krishna there so that Sonya’s firm can publicise Krishna’s powers all over the globe. Destiny forces Krishna to become a super hero to save the world from the wicked Dr. Arya (Naseerudin Shah) and destroy his plans. But a twist in the tale awaits him. The plot is adapted from Spider Man II and Minority Report, two super hit hollywood films.
Technicalities
People have been praising the visual effects in Krrish like anything. And yes! Rakesh deserves accolades for the effects in Krrish. The effects are so far the best any Bollywood movie ever has. But they are still leagues behind the Hollywood effects. Some stunts are ditto copied from Spider-man II.
But the action scenes last for just 5-7 minutes.
I couldn’t digest the computer part. How the hell did Rohit make a computer which could show us the future? Why Naseer and Hritik only see what they wanted to? Well, Rakesh expects us to accept everything dished out to us. Besides, its impossible to lock the computer with the heart beat as password. Because the pulse rate of the human heart keeps changing every minute. And why couldn’t Naseer just remove Hritik’s eyes for the retina check instead of keping him alive? There are loads of questions, but no answers, which is a huge minus point of the film because the computer part is the base of the plot.
Music
The music does not live up to the expectations. The music gets a bit boring. The songs Dil Naa Liya and Aao Sunaoon Pyaar ki ek kahani are the only good songs. Koi Tumsa Nahin gets very boring.
Chori Chori Chpuke is damn too boring. But the sound effects in the songs are good. The songs start with wonderful beats and hummable rythm but end being boring. Krrish has plain just above averege music.
Performances
Only Hritik and Naseer’s acting is worth watching. I personally feel thaat Krrish has been a hit only because of Hritik’s power house performance. I give 9/10 to Hritik and 8/10 to Naseer.
Priyanka’s acting is the worst. Too bad. She did not have proper facial expressions and couldn’t deliver the dialogues with feelings. 3/10
Quite suprisingle, Rekha’s acting was below the mark too! It can be clearly seen that she wasn’t least interested in doing her role. 4.5/10.
Manini De and Archana Puran Singh were okay 5/10.
All in all, acting is a minus point of the film despite Hritik and Naseer. Few good actors, lot of bad ones.
Over all
If you thought the promos were terrific, let me tell you the actions scenes and the stunts last just for five ten minutes. The plot is weird. The base was a big mistake. The acting was thumbs down and music is just above average. Another minus point of the film are the romantic scenes. They are the same old Hindi style scenes. That explains why critics are having mixed feeling for Krrish. After watching the film I thought, Rakesh’s in a fix! A movie worth 40 crores! He has to be mad! But the BO report was terrific. Krrish collected 67 crores in its first week. Even if people lose interest in Krrish after a few weeks, it will have easily grossed nearly 90 crores by then. Another thing is that Krrish cant be called an action film. Because it has many romantic scenes. The entire first half is pointless. So it can be called a family film.
Over all, a big disappointment.
