A well-made entertainer

A Rakesh Roshan film is eagerly anticipated. Irrespective of how his films fare at the box-office, the fact cannot be denied that he charters into an alien/untrodden territory every time he makes a film.In Krrish, he again steps into a rarely traveled terrain-super hero! Fortunately, Krrish has that punch so vital for a film of this genre.

The film is very similar in style to Rakesh Roshan’s immensely enjoyable Koi Mil Gaya .Krrish works primarily because he has treated the film with that rare maturity so vital for film of this genre.

Krishna (Hrithik) has inherited the powers given to his father Rohit (of Koi...Mil Gaya) by Jadoo. He lives with his grandmother (Rekha) who is over-protective of him and secretive of his powers. Krishna meets Priya (Priyanka Chopra), a TV journalist based in Singapore, who wants to use him and his love for her to save her job.

Krrish comes to Singapore and finds out that his father is alive — scientist Siddhant Arya (Naseeruddin Shah) has ensured that he is. Rohit is the key to the unscrupulous scientist’s access to the future through a computer that responds to his heartbeat and eye movements.

Music by Rajesh Roshan has grown on me over the last few weeks and the album is a must have. The picturizations of dil na, Chori Chori, and Ek Tha are quite good. On the technical side, editing, and screenplay bring the movie together nicely. Also, the dialogues are realistic and the interaction between Rohit and Krrish are some of the highlights of the film. The story moves much faster once the real drama begins in the second half.

Krrish is a Hrithik Roshan Roshan film all the way. He deserves browny points for making an implausible plot look thoroughly interesting. As the lead man, the actor is in complete form this time around, handling the EVERY situations with effortless ease. Krrish wouldn’t have been as impactful had it not been for Roshan’s bravura performance.

Naseerruddin Shah is superb in a role that seems tailormade for him. He proves yet again that he’s amongst the best talents in India . Rekha is first-rate yet again. Priyanka looks quite pretty.

Any shortcomings? Yes, one factor dilutse the impact. The film is extremely lengthy and can do with a 15/20-minute trimming for a better impact.

All up Krrish is a well-made entertainer that has ample moments to keep you in joyride for next three hours!
