Kuala Lumpur....the gleaming Petronas towers as the city centre came closer and I knew I would go back again.
Things to see
Batu Caves: A very soothing experience as we climbed up the never ending steps of this Hindu temple in the caves. The sounds of temple bells and prayers echoing in our ears.
Genting Highlands: 5 hotels at different levels.including an amusement park and a casino. Great weather and a short drive from the city.
Petronas Towers: Solid, gleaming facade.Free visit, collect your pass in the morning for an afternoon visit to the towers. Shop in the nearby shopping mall, Suria KLCC or grab a bite at the lovely Mandarin Oriental hotel.Take a walk through the lovely park or get a coffee at Gloria Beans.
Sunway Lagoon: Not quite Sun City or Disneyland but a great water park and amusement park.Very manageable in a day.Spend a couple of days here if you have kids just to enjoy the pool.
Penang: Short plane ride away, under Rs 1000/- extra on your airfare.Lovely beach and very relaxing.
Tons of parks, eateries and shopping.Stay at the Bukit Bintang area if you want to shop to your hearts content.
Tips: Do not take a taxi from the hotel, expensive!
Sometimes they do not charge by the meter, so clarify that in advance.
See Batu on the way to Genting, save money!
If you visit the planetarium and adjoining parks, make sure you have a ride back home. The area is deserted around closing time.
My moneys on Malaysia being the next hotspot for Indians and deservedly!
