Made under the banner of Balaji Films, Tusshar Kapoor, with his father, stars in a home production.Wonder why the father and the son had to choose such a bigzarre story to make into a film after all the success of Ekta Kapoor’s and Shobha Kapoor’s teleserials!
The film stars with Tanya ( Esha Deol ) having bouts of guilty conscience and nightmares of dead bodies falling from the roof, no less.Turns out that she has still not got over her past, which is told in flashback.
Cut to St Xaviers College, Bombay, where a motley group of jokers, with Karan(Tusshar Kapoor) heading them, is doing everything else but studying.After a number of hipwinging dances, Karan and Tanya become a cosy twosome, leaving poor Natasha slimmering with jealousy.Before you think this is a story of the usual love triangle, there is more of it!This college has a mysterious Proffesor Bakshi ( Rishi Kapoor ) who, it is rumoured, has a dark secret up his sleeve.Hence his perpetual scowl.
In the exam hall, Prof. Bakshi catches Tanya and Karan exchanging papers.Tanya owes up to cheating, though it is Karan who is at fault.Karan, unhappy that Tanya is sent out of the examination hall, decides to go at Prof. Bakshi’s house.He goes there at the dead of night, along with his faithful followers, and replaces Tanya’s exam papers.Tanya follows them, but what the gang sees shocks them.
Meanwhile, Bakshi chases the students, and while they make a gateway in a car, Bakshi is hit.
The question is, is Bakshi dead or alive?
A murder mystery, KUCCH TO HAI has nothing to recommend for it.It has a fine script, poor direction and ever more a dreadful bachgroung music and sound effects.As far as acting goes, Rishi Kapoor as a proffeser with a dark past, sprouts a grew stubble in the worst role of his career.Tusshar and Esha are passable, especially in the dance numbers.The hangers on, along with Johnny Lever, grate on your nerver.KUCCH TO HAI is as vague as its title.
