I don’t know why some people don’t like him, he’s one of the best singers in the industry. Some people say he makes a weird noise under his nose or something. How can you do that I don’t even know, but when someone is good at what their doing and making a living of a it, you’ll get some jealous people who try to put them down. Kumar sanu in my opinion is one of the best singers ever. He’s no kishore kumar or mohammad rafi, but certainly has a mindblowing voice.
His real name is kedarnath bhattacharjee born on september of 1957. His father was also a vocalist. KUmar sanu started playing drums at a very young age. He was born in calcutta and he got his degree in commerce there. He started playing at restaurants and started performing in theatres and had a style compared to kishore kumar. He has recorded over 6 ot 7 thousands songs. He also holds guiness world record for recording 28 songs in one day. He has won 5 straight filmfare awards for best male playback singers started in 1990 to 1994.
It was 1987 when jagjit sing gave him a chance to sing in the hindi film aandhiyan, but still there was no success. Then he was given chance into the amitabh film jadoogar, and given some stupid songs mein jadoogar mera naam goga mujhsa nahin koi hoga. Then the big break through came in the 1990 when nadeem sharavan got him for aashiqui. He sang almost all of the songs on the album and album turned into a major success. I think still holds the record for most albums sold. HIs first filmfare award was for the song aab tere bin jee lenge hum from aashiqui.
Then there was no turning back Next year saajan came and he was still at the top spot with and got his second award for the song mera dil bhi kitna pagal hai yeh pyar tu tumse karta hai, which was sung beautifully the other song on the album I was loved was jeeye tu jeeye kaise bin aapke. Next year Deewana came the song soochenge tum pyar kare ke nahin was his third filmfare award. Again it was with nadeem sharavan third time. He also sang song for the film sadak, almost all of the songs tumhe apna banane ki kasam is his other very famous song.
Fourth filmfare award was for the film baazigar for the song yeh kali kali aankhen, which isn’t in my favorites, but the song baazigar mein baazigar is a another gem. His 5th award was for the film 1942 love story for the song ek ladki ko dekha tu aisa laga, which is considered one of the best songs in the industry. It was played out when the film released. In the year 1995 was the year when udit narayan was going hit, from the album dilwale dulhania le jayenge. Kumar sanu came back with the song tujhe dekha tu yeh jaana sanam. Udit narayan’s songs couldn’t take over kumar sanu’s voice from ddlj.
Other superhit of sanu was pardes, do dil mil rahe hai magar chupke chupke is one of his top five songs. In the years 2000’s sanu still is going strong with hits in his hands from films like humraaz, footpath, andaaz, kaante, ishq vishq, indian babu, dil ka ristha etc.
Besides from singing sanu also wanted to act in films thank god he didn’t as a main hero, but he is directing his forthcoming film called uthaaan starring sanjay dutt and priyanka chopra.
