My husband and I chose the Kyocera Smartphone 7135 because the software is compatable with a Mac, it has a fairly loud speaker phone (I am a bit hard of hearing, ) it is large (I hate the trend in teeny tiny phones, I loose them), it is convienient to have both a phone and a PDA in one (less stuff to loose, ) and the phone service is through Verizon which reaches everywhere (and we camp, alot!). I also really get a nerdy kick out of flipping the top open and having it sound like a Star Trek Communicator. And, all the other geeks are impressed with my cool phone.
It does fitz out on occasion. Sometimes, it looses all information, sometimes it freezes on a function and I have to hit reset. But I can always Hotsync it when I get home, and the only data lost is what Ive accumulated after the last Hotsync. In the almost two years we have owned them (we have one each) my husband has never had to call tech support and I have only called once. Everything else has been fixable w/o outside help.
I also dont like the hip holster, so I hang mine of my belt with a lanyard. And I know I can make many spiffy ring tones and play music, but I havent figured out how to yet.
When our contract w/ Verizon ends, we plan to turn these in for the next version of the same thing. Overall, we like them, and would recommend them.
