Smartphone...

The specs of this phone are...

  • thin phone (probably the guy’s profile)

  • dual band

  • dual mode CDMA

  • digital PCS

  • analog

almost all these specs are of the cellular phone, code-division multiple access specifications. this appears to be a digital + analog, dual-mode phone, supporting the cdma architecture (note - this is not a gsm phone).

weighing in at 125 grams, I feel this is a little heavy for normal in-pocket carrying. (my ericsson t28s is 83 grams, and is the lightest phone i’ve ever used - there are lighter ones available [of course, i’m talking gsm in this paragraph!]).

  • voice mail capable

  • large, 5-line lcd display (around the standard now)

  • web-browser included - I was not able to glean the version.

  • kyocera claims paging / text messaging, but this is almost always dependent on the service provider (ditto for the web-browsing facility).

in my humble opinion, this phone has very good features (specially the 2.5hrs/3-4 days battery backup), but doesn’t look good - as the hindi saying goes, ’is me dum nahi’. it looks a little bulky, and probably too tall to fit in your average shirt pocket.

but the specifications seem good.

one point of note here - if you’re planning to use this phone in india, you may need to check if it’s ’’cdma is-95a’’ compatible - I was not able to pull this information out of kyocera’s website.

enjoy!
