This hustle-tussle of Saas-Bahu ( Mother & daugther-in-law) is the ultimate test of any sons patience & sanity.
Our dear Ektaa Kkkkkapoor seems to have borrowed the ’’Sanjeevini Bhooti’’ (elixir of life) & a leaf or two from ’’chandrakaantha’’ director Nirja guleri. Thankfully she did not borrow her ’’cloning machine’’ ( or are we going to see it soon?)
Getting ’’Hit on the head’’ ( Main kahaan hoon...) seems to be the in-thing these days after the demise of the cliched ’’Getting lost in Kumbh Mela’’ thing. Next in line seems to be characters getting into accidents, vanishing without trace & re-surfacing with a new ’’face’’ after ’’plastic surgery’’ (never knew it was so damn cheap) as & when the actor/actresses contracts expire & they refuse to work for the peanuts doled out by Ms. Kapoor.
A Few Glimpses...
One such ’’hit on the head’’ accident victim (poor guy, he re-signed the contract) but not enough makes his lady doctor ’’pregnant’’ (or so it seems). Even more ridiculous is his ’’traditional’’ mother inviting this lady for all religious ceremonies without fail. That too when our hero is the father of a child & the other ’’one’’ is on the way ( compulsions of having a pregnant actress?)
The whole family’s IQ seems to be below 12 for this ’’other’’ lady manages to con them that she is ’’pregnant’’ for whole nine months!!!! ( wake up, wake up... she is not pregnant. Duh....). In the mean time our ’’heroines’’ sister is having an affair with the ’’other’’ ladys brother (bold & dutiful). So much for sibling rivalry.
Just as to when her con job is exposed. The head of the family a 80 year old lady starts a 40 day fast/penance to get her grandsons wife back (even I would die if I fast so much). After a flood of tears ’’Bahu’’ finally decides to return back & gifts her son to another ’’Bahu’’ for Christmas. ( Plot for KSBKBT 2 starts...) Waiting for this very auspicious moment the other ’’Bahu’’ separates from the family with her husband only to divorce him later (but keeps the child for old times sake?)
Now before I can recite the title of this serial everyone grows grey hair, the hero undergoes ’’plastic surgery’’ & the grand old lady turns 120?? ’’KSBKBT the Next Generation...’’ starts.
I am ending this review so as not to test your patience further. I just hope this Saas-Bahu breathes it’s last breath (Saans) before I return. Sigh......
