Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is one the mega-serials on Star Plus. 63 reviews have already been written on it here on MS.I recall watching this soap 2 years ago in its initial run for a couple of months. (Yeah, I do crazy things at times.)It was entertaining for a small period. Soon I got bored and stopped watching it.
After that, whenever I come across it, I frantically look for the remote control. This is the dumbest and most over rated soap ever made.
I am not really authorized to comment on KSBKBT since I don’t watch it; I have to avoid watching it for my own sanity.
I sometimes come across it as I surf channels during commercial breaks.
Here are my observations about this former numero uno soap-
1)The Story- it is about a gujrati joint family.It has a never-ending story with no logic or common sense. Every time new faces are seen; I come to know that it’s the same serial only due to the typical honking sound and songs that go on. “Ta ta ta…..tata..lala…” –something like that- the scariest and weirdest music you can get on indian television.
2)The slow motions- “Koi jaldi nahi hain”. KSBKBT is slower than a snail. Watch it once a month and you won’t still miss anything.
The ‘slow motions’ during the scenes are the most hilarious. Every time, anything happens, all the members of the big parivaar get up slowly. (Ek saath, khade raho), and then the camera slowly captures everyone’s face- one by one. Imagine such 10-20 confused faces – in slow motion!!! Nothing can be more boring. Yawns……
3)The Out-of-this-world Logic- No rules of the land apply here. So, people live comfortably in their 90s, 100s and 150s(no, no, I am not talking about cricket batting scores, these are the ages of some of the characters). Kids finish MBA at 16 and get married at 20. There is no restriction on the number of spouses a man or woman can have. Illegitimacy is not an issue. Now if this parivaar represents an Indian family, then that means all Indian families are dysfunctional.
Why would I watch some sick-minded person’s cruel and depressing fantasies? I would rather watch Aaj Tak!
4)Dead People Walking- nobody really dies here. People have accidents, they are officially declared as dead, after a lot of rona-dhona and confusions, they come back to live for another 100 years. Sometimes their face changes (after the previous actor walks out).
5)Money matters- the family is superrich with a large business. But, sometimes, the family loses ‘everything’ in just a few minutes-as if ‘everything’ was a handkerchief to lose. Hey, but not to worry, they get ‘everything’ back after some more slow-paced episodes.
Some more yawns.....
2)KSBKBT’ s women- the only two things that a woman is capable of doing are- cry or make evil plans.
The amount of excessive crying can put Karan Johar to shame.
The vamps in KSBKBT can really scare a person. If one seriously watches their evil plans, nightmares can’t be avoided. Ekta herself and her leading ladies can give Amrish Puri and Gulshan Grover a run for their money.
3)KSBKBT jokes- the joke is on the viewers, really!
I mean, the only thing that amuses me is that there are people who watch this illogical asynchronous trash.
The jokes just amount to few more yawns.
4)Music- the slow motions are supported by the music in the background. (They won’t spare my ears either). So, every now and then, you have flashbacks, dances, and slow motions - all with the same ‘honking’ sound in the background.
Some more yawns……

Wake up time!!!. I couldn’t help yawning even while writing a review on this soap.
There is really nothing to say about the acting or technical aspects. The only good point about this is- if you have insomnia, perhaps this could be a good remedy. (But don’t forget that there are side effects like nightmares and partial insanity).
(PS: No offense meant to the KSBKBT fans, everyone has a different opinion. I might be missing something, as I am not a regular viewer, Comments are welcome !)
