Lot of people had told me that the movie was contrived, cliched, did not belong to today’s scenario blah blah and so I wasn’t really expecting much from the movie.
I saw it on my DVD & surprisingly the movie came across as ’worth a watch’.There is no parallel to Jaya Bachan’s acting, she fits into her role completely & Rani & konkana’s performance have also been commendable.
The movie, inspite of the fact that the storyline sounds dated, has been executed very well.Konkana has been portrayed as the protected child completely unawares of the issues being faced by the family. And she has played that part extremely well.
Rani is the responsible girl who takes the burden of her family on her shoulders & sets out to find a way. The how of it when narrated can sound stupid but the way they have shown it in the movie it doesn’t seem so. Overall the movie ends on a happy note. A fairytale ending typical of bollywood movies.
Would suggest people not to go by reviews & watch it for themselves. Agreed, the storyline is trite but trust me the execution is brilliant.
