A.R.REHMAN is back and how!Hat’s off to him for churning out yet another great album.Lagaan is Aamir khan’s first film as a producer and he could not have askad for a better musical score than this.Lagaan which is set in the late 1800’s is about the peasant revolt against the British.So its a very differant kind of film and to give such a fantastic score in this film is a commendable job.The film has eight songs out of which two are music pieces.All the songs in the album are great coz of the combustible combo of A.rrehman and Javed akhtar.
The opening track of the album is Ghanan Ghanan which is a rain song with beautiful lyrics by Javed.A.The song has a rustic appeal to it and is emminently hummable.
Mitwa and Chala-Chalo are very inspiring and encouraging songs and will be even more effective when seen in the context of the film.
Radha kaise na jale is for me the best song.Its a ched-chaad kind of a song with a classical touch and has been superbly sung by Asha bhosle and Udit narayan.Perfect choice of singers.
O re chori is a wonderful blend of Western and Indian.Vasundra das adds to the beauty of the song.
O paalanhare is a devotiontal song heard after a long time.Its beautiful to say the least and touches the heart and soul.
Both the music pieces are great.
All in all a great album and worth a buy.
