Munnabhai weaved his magic yet again as Lage Rho Munnabhai, the sequel to Munnabhai MBBS opened with high expectations. Generally it is difficult to live up to the succes of ones predecesor, but Raju Hirani, as director has done a laudable job and deserves full appreciations for his effort. The movie consists of almost the same star cast, the only changes being that Lage Rho.. replaces Gracy Singh with Vidya Balan, who enchants the audiences from the word go. Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi are at their tapori best and Boman Irani too manages to tickle the ribs with his performance as a shrewd Sardar, "Lucky". Sanjay Dutt again manages to rise above the cliche and blows away any rumours of a dissapointing sequel. Arshad Warsi too proves his mettle as an actor and has truly become a seasoned campaigner.
The movie moves on the theme of Gandhism and the messages of non-violence and love are fed to the audiences in healthy doses. The direction is good with very few yawning moments though some parts seem a tad impractical. But knowing that Munnabhai almost became a doctor in his last movie, having constant hallucinations of Gandhiji doesnt seem like a long shot!!
The songs are hummable but not remembrable as music director Shantanu Moitra does an above par job.
Overall the movie is well paced and full of humour, and unlike the other comedy movies coming out these days, one can actually watch it with ones family.
The cast also includes Diya Mirza, Jimmy Shergill, Dilip Prabhavalkar and Abhishek Bachhan, who plays a cameo.
Verdict- 9/10
