Fabulous! One of my favorite places to stay in India. Just magical - perfect location, lovely rooms, excellent food, and great staff (Taj’s best!). Feels like they are really proud to work there and want their guests to have a memorable experience. The approach by boat is wonderful, especially in the evenings.
I have stayed at 2 other 5 star resorts in Udaipur which were very nice, but geared towards foreign tourists - maybe they are trying too hard to please. At the Lake Palace, its old school politeness and charm. It has a special place in my heart. Agreed its not cheap but its worth every penny. Sheer class!
Tip - Must go and see the Khush Mahal Suite with its antique swing, even if you are not staying in it!
