Amazing Sushant Singh

and the others...;)

...By the makers from the best film of our times, Dil Chahta Hai The mesmerizing music, the amazing directing, the beautiful lyrics, the superb acting, the dialogue, the one liners, the background score, the cinematography, the choreography, college, the clothes, the shoes, the painting, the running, the cars, the plane, the airport, the suitcase cart, the business card, the cell phone, the opera theatre, the camera, the bags, the drinks, the food, the RED BALLOON, AUSTRALIA, the bum, the looting, the subway, the roller coaster, the beach, GOA, three unbelievably hot guys, COMEDY, DRAMA, SUSPENSE, ACTION, GLAMOUR, ROMANCE, SEX{jks} = THIS MOVIE HAD IT ALL! I think there was more to that list...

.... Now here comes, Lakshya. [Ooh! Hrithik in UNIFORM! I love men in uniform! Meh!]

Main Aisa, Vaisa, Jaisa, Kaisa...

Main Aisa Kyon Hoon - Shaan

A pop-like, R&B touch on bass drum, snare, hi-hats, and lead guitar... For ’bout 10 seconds, ’’...Main Aisa Kyon Hoon’’ Shaan? Sounds like Sonu Nigam Junior! Definately a interesting listen for ’Yuvas’ today... You bob your head up and down, not sideways for this number!!! Remarkably, there isn’t any unique tune in this song, which S-E-L (Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy, not SALT in French) normally do, but this number in unavoidable, it can grow on you, just like it did on me. Shaan is a good singer, I think he is going places, after his hit from DCH, Koi Kahe Kaheta Rahe.

Comparison: When Shaan does his part on ’’...Ho Na Jaane Mera Ab Kya’’ along with the male chorus doing ’’Ohh, Ohh, Ohh!’’ - That part sounded so damn similar to the part in the song Latka Diya, from Hindustani, when the female singer says ’’Chodai Gain Chodai Gain Hum’’ and the female chorus says ’’Ohh, Ohh, Ohh!’’. [Listen to it carefully and compare] ’’Ohhh Wei Eee I, Oh Wei EE Oh.. Ohhh Wei Eee I, Oh Wei, Oh Wei, Oh Wei, Oh Wei!’’. The use of orchestra between the main part and verse and ending is so similar to A.R. Rahman, quite haunting with the use of notes used.... It’s a simple, quiet type of song... MY RATING: 8/10

Agar, Magar, Pagar, Gagar...

Agar Main Kahoon - Alka Yagnik & Udit Narayan

A soft, mellow type of low-stringed guitars/bass are used in the first ten second of this song. It is catchy, along with using the rim shot of the snare drum. Then, my favourite instrument, the acoustic guitar is used so melodically, and so amazingly. Something that would obviously tell you that this song, is worth a listen. Then, in the background, while the guitar is strolling along, you hear drumming, parts of it include by using the low key note of the snare drum. It adds a nice Indian beats to it. ’’...Agar Main Kahoon, Mujhe Tumse Mohabbat Hai’’, starts off by Udit Narayan, that part, when he started, Aamir Khan came into my mind for no reason! It sounded like he was singing it.. I don’t know why.. It’s one of those voices where Udit Narayan puts an effort into the romantic mood. The drumming gets a bit louder, to add some nice hype to it... ’’... Main Tumse Kahoon Gi’’, Alka whispers it at first, and gets into a perky, yet nice voice brought up.

This song is a foot-tapper all the way. I love the guitar in this song so much. Javed Akhtar Saheb, the creative wordy - man puts so much of love words in the right place, that it sounds so adorable! The use of harmonica, and the more percussion used reminds me of those old days, like the Black and White days in films like Dilip Kumar, and Madhubala... And then, I don’t why but it sounds like a South song.. It’s very beautiful and cute at the same time... The Udit - Alka team are always successful. Comparison: This tune, and the drumming sounds like it was picked up from ’’Dola Dola’’ from Dil Hi Dil Mein, made by none other than A.R. Rahman. - With the exception of octave higher notes...

MY RATING: 8.5/10

Kitni Baatein, Yaad Aate Hain... No... not ’Yaadien’

Kitni Baatein - Sadhana Sargam & Hari Haran

A use of low note timpanis are used, including bass drum. Those instruments were symbolized as a ’’heartbeat’’. Let’s just say this number is definately ’’A.R. Rahman’’ inspired, you know, in his earlier old days.... With the use of flute, piano, orchestra, Hari Haran, and the darkness atmosphere within this beautiful, haunting song. It is slow, and I don’t see where this song will be placed in this movie. Hari Haran’s voice is intoxicating as always, though I feel that Sadhna’s voice did not fit in this song.. Perhaps it should have been Alka’s voice. Even though Sadhna’s is my fav. singer, her voice belongs in more hyped, powerful songs. This song is alright, but not too original. MY RATING: 7.5/10

...

Lakshya - Shankar Mahadevan

I don’t know what to write for this one... A helipcopter hums its way around the air, then a similar use of drums were used just like in ’’Kitni Baatein’’... ’’... Haan, Yeh Raasta Hai Tera’’ Shankar, brings out his powerful self to show the feelings of the soldiers who suffer, experience and work the hardest from top to bottom. A string of electric guitar zaps its way along with Shankar’s voice. This song, is a bit different than I have heard. It goes in its different places. From hard - core rock song, and then goes right into tablas... The tune changes in this song, very confusing at first. Then the second part of the verse goes right into the regular rock number. This is one of those song, in which you have to hear what Shankar is actually saying, and not to make fun of it. This brings out the patriotism of all Indians in this song. I think this is one of those song you just want to hear it once... MY RATING: 7/10

Sandese Aate... Oh No, That’s Not It...

Kandhon Se Milte Hain Kandhe - Shankar Mahadevan, Sonu Nigam, Hariharan, Roop Kumar Rathod & Kunal

The 6 men of this song, sounds so scary when they are saying ’’Kandhon...’’. It does not have that much of a tune in which you can feel the patriotism, or how the soldiers are, like in ’’Sandese Aate Hain’’. The lyrics may offend to some neighbours when they say ’’Dushman kai hilte hain’’. Each man gets a chance to sing a part.... S-E-L tries to put strong percussion uses and soft violin and flutes to put in some heavy feelings. Yet it is not great. Not a good patriotic song. I think S-E-L is not good at making these kinds of songs. MY RATING: 6/10
