I had worked here almost 8 years at L&T knowledge city in Vadodara, India.
In short called L&T, it has 9 business verticals ranging from Infrastructure, Hydrocarbon, Process industry, Defence, IT, Heavy engineering, Products, systems & Equipments Finance, Real estate.
L&T is one of oldest companies, started in 1938 by 2 engineers from Denmark, named Mr. Hening Holck Larsen & Soren Kristein Toubro, who came to India and started a small firm(that time) in bombay, to start with trading of dairy & farm equipments here in India. With just a notch, the company became the largest engineering conglomerate today.
It employs around 20, 000 employees across India and foreign locations.L&T is the dream company for all engineers coming from the colleges, as they only recruit freshers through campus interviews and they have a year training period for graduates direct after college, to get the fresh talents on-board. The 1 year training program is called Graduate engineering training. After 1 year, they take the trainees as executives in the same vertical they got the training, but may be different department based on the interest of trainee and work requirements.
They have one of the best HR practices. I will say most of the engineers coming to L&T stays there atleast for 7-10 years on average.
L&T is considered to have best job security, as they gets many jobs in hand and have pretty good orders to keep it sustainable and profitable.
