I travelled with my wife and kid in Feb. Will just try and sum up in short few points:
Water front shaw hapeens to be very close to the water front - so yes you definitely feel good. Unfortunate thing is that there is construction everywhere. In fact so much so that you would have to struggle to take a clean shot from your camera without any construction work creeping in unless ofcourse you are donwstairs just next to the water front. Here is my experience at Waterfront
Staff - good but expected more from them in terms of helping out with things, telling what are the things to do, places to visit, services available. All they do is smile at you, slam a brochure or two on your wrist and then you are on your own unless you make that extra effort to find out more and ask. I felt as if they were expecting me to have done some homework to find out all at already from other soruces before coming. hehe:) And guess what they "requested" me to vacate the room an hour in advance as they were expecting a group the next day. heck! Not what I expected!
Service - I would say poor, 40 mintues to serve the lunch(Chor bizzare), 3 calls to the room service to get the "free" ice(dont know why they highlight the "free" part with ice), expected more on that front.
Room - Very spacious, fairly clean(except some stains here and there on the walls) - expected a little more maintained rooms, roman blinds(didnt work too well), induction cooking system didnt work too well took a few calls and 3-4 visit from the staff to get it working, pillows had over sized covers, were crushed, it looked as it they had been used earlier, overall clean though. Bathroom had some leakages, plumber couldnt find out the source. I think a 3-3.5 K is what you would be happy to pay for all this but I think at 6K a night, it is anything but value for money.Waterfront Shaw has a very unique arrangement of renting out rooms as 1/2BHK or studio, you would understand it when you visit and what this means for you is a door in your bedroom which opens in the bedroom of another 1BHK. And this door - mind you - is the least sound proof, so you will always know what the guest in the next room is talking or watching on the TV. Didnt like this a bit. Least I expected was such a door to be soundproof.
Facilities: They very proudly highlight availability of Xbox’s, Movies, etc. I called in the reception atleast 4-5 times to ask for either but didnt get one so had to just kill time while my kid was having her inbetween naps. Each time they had a different excuse, so I just had to give up after a few calls. Also though they say it is free, its actually not(as per a note they leave in the room, usage@100 buck an hour or so)
Food - Chor Bizarre, food was pretty average, at such exhorbient prices the least I expected in a biryani was good quality rice, but no.
Food - Pizzavala was great, much reasonable in terms of prices, good in taste and overall quality, value for money
Food - Lebanease - Try only if you like to experiment, didnt work for me, quality wise looked good and reasonably priced
Food - All Americal Diner - Food was excellent, breakfast was great - guess one of the only few things real good about the Waterfront shaw.
Food - Grandma’s(Bakery shop) - Excellent, good qaulity stuff, and good staff
Food - Ekant - Better then excellent - Great view, great staff, awsome wholesome food, just a little expensive though @ almost 600 a head
Boat Ride - Good but awfully slow, you get bored and it being at 900 bucks its a little expensive for it esp when you have to shell out 900 for a whole 8 seater cruise boat(which crawls - doesnt cruise) even if you are one or two(which was the case with me) as they dont generally let you share(you have to hire your own - unless you make an arrragement with some of the travellers around).
Davino Club - Great spot to be, well built, awsome view, just a little expensive
