Review : Sex sells!! This movie has been able to sell capitalize on the age old formula... the best part of this movie is that there were no sex scenes... So all your guys who think its fire part II or Choti si Love Story get a porn cd maan. It’s an insight on the expatriate South Asian Community and the struggles and celebrations of living in the Land of the Free and Opportunities. Leela is the story of Leela (Dimple Kapadia), a self styled independent woman who is having an open marriage with her singer husband Nashaad (Vinod Khanna).Its also the story the modern day Krishna (Amol Mhatre), an ABCD whose parents Chaitali (Deepti Naval) and reall cool double standard Jai (Gulshan Grover) are just divorced and simultaneously starting a second innings with their American partners. It’s a movie not about universal love but every student’s dream come true :):) Saddened by the death of her mother, Leela a professor at Bombay University goes to the US as a visiting faculty on South Asian Cultures leaving behind her ’’perfect’’ life and philanderous husband, whose really painful commentary poems are read every 2-3 mins. While Kris ( only leela can call him Krishna when he is alone ;-) ) is awed by the beauty of Leela and takes up a bet with his American friends to lose his virginity to her, poor ABCD loses the bet makes fool of himself, loses the faith and friendship in the her eyes. Our Pluto ABCD does everything possible to woo and impress his teacher; activities include anti- nuke campaigns, Garba nites, Really pained by the double standards adopted by his parents on morality and sex, triggered by finding out that his mom was sleeping around Kris finds solace and comfort in the company of his teacher, this teacher-student relationship develops into a great bond where Leela opens Kris to a world beyond black and gray, while Krishna reciprocates by helping her realize that her marriage with Nasshad is all crap and all her life she was just an oppressed muse. One night when she calls India she finds some other woman with her husband, the situation leads our liberated woman decided to get even, happiness for Krishna. Meanwhile restless Nasshad flies to the US, and there is showdown between the two lovers, and both Kris and Leela get funda that ’’nothing touched by fire remains the same’’ The story has an abrupt ending, maybe coz we Indians aint that mature to digest crude realities that do exist. The movie has cool music, some great comeback performance of our tourism minister Vinod Khanna, Deepti Naval, Sopranos Gulshan Grover not to forget Dimple Kapadia.
