Value for money

I didnt find G470 review option on mouthshut, and hence Iam posting review under G450. My purchase is just 1 month old though I did lot of RnD before I zeroed in on this. I have gone thru Dell, hP, compaq, acer, Hcl, Vaio(never buy Eseries, bad productline)

Configuration: core i3 2330, 2GB ram, 320gb HDD, DVD, BTW, USB 2, touchpad, 14" display etc....

is just around 600$ in india but with Win7 home basic OS on OEM without DVD media.

I must say here, there are options in HP, Dell, Lenovo models without OS but remember if your OS at home is not genuine, or not supported like XP, win2k etc and if you buy Lappi with faster processors like i3, i5 without OS then no drivers and after sales support provided by them. Be sure before you jump on Lappis without OS OR just love Linux and run your lappi on tha. Be cautious on this point.

While I scouted for lappi under 30k including taxes, I found Lenovo G470 is best to suit the price with all the available features in another brands but above 30k. My requirements are fast computing, light on gaming, good for software development, browsing, videos.

Pros:

i3 2330 sandybridge, effective Touchpad, metal palm rest, good finish, chiclet keyboard

14" sleek display (I hate 15.5" and above display as laptop);

with win7 OS, MS office starter pack,

Cons:

Display is not upto mark like in Dell but better than HP, Compaq which are pale in similar range (HP 630i3/i5); Vaio Eseries display is better

No DVD media for OS but no other brand gives as well except Dell

No onsite service [but I heard service response is better than HP/Compaq];

Battery just lasts 2 hrs on videos and else 3 hrs which is lesser condiering 6 cell Lion, but not bad

Sofar, my overall experience has been good though it is just a month old, considering pricing, requirements, performance I can rate this product as Good and I definitely suggest others as VFM

I add here, recently I gifted one to my cousin and they too found it good as VFM. If you can put 5k more for i3 sandybridge then go for DELL inspiron14z or Vostro even better. However I shall update this review as time goes by with develoments.
