LeTv Le 1S Full Review

LeTv or LeEco is a new entrant in the Indian market with its new devices Le 1S and Le Max. Just as Xiaomi they started with the strategy of flash sale. How good is Le 1S for the price of Rs 10, 999, to find out please find the review below.

BUILD QUALITY & HARDWARE:

The phone is built of metal and has a unibody design. On the back side there are bits of plastic pieces at top and bottom to enable good aignal reception. The bezels are adequately thin which helps the device’s width to be less. The device is almost flat on front and back and even the sides are flat which gives a good grip and solid feel in the hand and doesn’t give the impression of the low price tag it carries. The device has volume rocker and power buttons on the right side of the device having metallic design and quite tactile feel while operating. The USB Type C port is located at the bottom, and 3.5mm audio jack and IR blaster is located at the top. The device is available in two colours Gold and Silver.

In terms of hardware it has

¦ 5.5 1080p display

¦ Mediatek Helio X10 processor with G7200 GPU

¦ 3gb Ram and 32gb( approx 24.5gb available) inbuilt storage, no micro sd expansion

¦ USB Type C port for charging and data transfer

¦ Fast charging with 24 watt adaptor

¦ 13 MP rear and 5 MP front cameras

¦ Dual sim functionality

¦ IR Blaster to control devices

¦ Fingerprint scanner

¦ 3000 mah Battery

DISPLAY:

The display is 5.5 IPS panel with 1080p( Full HD) resolution giving it pixel density of 401 ppi. The display is good in quality but the colours are a bit saturated which some may not like. The viewing angles are very good and the black levels are exceptional for an IPS LCD panel. The brightness seems to be low when compared to other devices but it does not affect the sunlight visibility. For the price the display is very good.

PERFORMANCE:

The power for the device comes from Mediatek Helio X10 processor coupled with 3gb ram and Power VR G7200 GPU. The performance is very good. The device blazes through normal day-to-day tasks and the multitasking is also very impressive thanks to 3gb ram. Gaming is also good but you may find a lag here and there with very graphics intensive games. Overall the performance is very good. For navigation the device has 3 touch capacitive backlit keys which functions as recent, home and back keys. There is no option to set different functionality to these buttons.

For security the device has a fingerprint scanner located at the back of the device. It has mirror finish and the speed is also very good. The accuracy is around 90 percent and you can register upto 5 fingers.

There were no issues with call quality either. The connection was solid all the time and no call drops were faced.

SOFTWARE:

Le 1S comes with EUI 5.5 with interface similar to the IOS. There is no app drawer and all the apps are located on the homescreen. The quick toggles are not present in the notification area but it actually has a control centre which also has all the quick toggles. The control centre will remind you of IOS pull up control centre of you are switching from and IPhone to Le 1S. There is no bloatware and the preinstalled apps are minimal. You get all the google apps. The software still needs to be optimized and by no means this is a perfect software.

CAMERA:

The 13 MP rear camera performs well when there are good lighting conditions for eg: Outdoors, etc. The colour reproduction in the images seem to be a bit saturated which again some may not like. The macro shots are also good with yood anount of bokeh effect in the background. Come indoors and the performance suffers quite a lot. The images are soft and noisy and have very less details. Same goes for the front 5 MP camera.

BATTERY:

Le 1S is fuelled by a 3000 mah battery. The battery performance is below average and it can be improved with a software update. The standby time is where it actually suffers due to unoptimized software. But you can get through the day comfortably if you are a moderate user with the screen on time of 3.5 to 4 hours. But it does scores in the charging department. The supplied charger is of 24 watts output and the device charges from 0 to 100 percentage in 70 to 80 minutes which is very fast and the company also claims that tou can get 6 hrs of usage with a 5 min charge. There is also inbuilt power saving option which will also help to get more juice out of the device.

CONCLUSION:

Overall LeTv Le 1S is a great device for the price and one should not hesitate in purchasing it. There are few issues which can be rectified by software updates and Le 1S needs to take care of it. The customer support has been good interms of response to the queries but it is something which cannot be commented upon at this stage.
