As the name suggests, the Le Max is one large phone. Actually, it is a bit too large. Large enough to rule out a lot of users with smaller hands. At 6.33-inches, it is a phablet in every sense and that shows in the 204 gram weight too. It is also a full bodied smartphone with a fingerprint scanner, a large battery and an excellent screen.
Specs: 6.33-inch( 2560x1440p) display| Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC with 4GB RAM| 64 GB| 21MP rear camera+ 4-UltraPixel front camera| 3, 400mAh battery| EUI based on Android 5.0
What is good?
The phone has a really good 2K screen which shines through, especially at night. There is also an excess of real estate on the screen, making the icons look small. It is ideal for those who like to read a lot on their phones.
The overall build quality is good and the phone seems like something that can last, at least on the hardware front. Like with LG phones, the fingerprint scanner is at the back under the camera and this is a more natural place to have this security feature.
Performance will not be an issue with this phone, thanks to the Snapdragon 810 SoC and 4GB RAM. It can handle anything from high quality streaming video to very graphic games. And thankfully the phone does not heat up much when you are pushing its limits. For those impressed by benchmarks, this phone is right up there with the top flagships of the year.
The camera is great but schizophrenic. It has one identity that is great, especially when there is good natural light. Also, the video capabilities are good thanks to the 4K abilities and extra storage on the phone.
Should you buy
At Rs 32, 999, this phone is placed in the premium segment, well away from the volume middle segment in India. For me, this phone comes in direct competition to the Qiku Q Terra, which is priced under Rs 20, 000. Of course, this phone offers more real estate and storage, but not worth paying another Rs 13, 000 for. Buy this phone if you really need that extra screen size, which is becoming increasingly hard these days. This would have been a much better phone at a price under Rs 25, 000.
