Ive owned 501s in the past, and I absolutely loathe these things. Why? Let me count the ways.
The material is a heavy, stiff denim that takes about 300 washings to unstiffen. The weight of the fabric makes them fit oddly. For some reason, that dark, dark, blue makes me look a lot heavier than I am, and coupled with the stiffness of the fabric, I look like a house. When you sit, the denim doesnt fold gracefully in the thigh/hip area, it sticks out in little points.
The measurements are in inches, not numbers. And the inches are always two or three bigger than my actual waist
measurement. With these jeans on, I apparently have no rear end at all. Even my husband says he hates them on me you have a great rear end, and those jeans make it look completely flat. Also, they accent my rather ample thighs. So there I am, flat rear end and big thighs. At least with other brands I can think my thighs might be too big, but by George, my rear end looks good!.
Unfortunately, these things last forever. I have a pair that Ive had since high school (twenty years ago). I finally just threw them away last month. Even buried in the bottom of the closet (where hopefully some enterprising mouse would destroy them), they remain as dark, stiff, and unflattering as the day I bought them. And I had actually WORN these a lot, to paint and clean in.
If you want jeans that flatter your figure, or make your figure appear better than it really is, avoid this brand!
