SPECIFICALLY LG SPLIT AC MODEL RSNQ18ZNXE

Let me give background for readers to understand the context in which I am giving a bad rating and review. We have a house and we have a clinic. We have had 3 Voltas windows AC & 2 Voltas split AC & 2 PANASONIC SPLIT AC. The newest is about 14 yrs old and the oldest is nearly 30 yrs old. Never had any issue with Panasonic AC. With regards to Voltas, we used to get minor repairs like condenser burning out or outdoor unit fan blade breaking. Since, voltas did not have authorised service centre, any complaint lodged, contract repair personnel used to attend and on asking them for recommendation to buy new AC, about 4 different people recommended LG AC. Finally, it turned out that many actually worked for the LG authorised service centre.


Hence, after 14 yrs, we bought the above model LG AC from BAJAJ ELECTRONICS which was specifically recommended by them. Purchased on 12/10/2023.


After 8 months, we called them for cleaning and the technician kept pushing for AMC. All the AC I mentioned before NEVER required an AMC. Nor did we need AMC for any AC anywhere else and hence, we were surprised and told that AC generally do not have major issues this early in life and hence, refused to get AMC.


Cut to 1/8/2025, AC is 1 year 10 months old. Cooling not happening. Called them officially for cleaning the AC again. Technician comes and checks indoor unit and tells the copper piping has corroded because of the humid climate and the gas has leaked out and the whole thing to be repaired would cost 11k or pay 3 yrs AMC for 14k.


I was shocked and asked how come LG AC got damaged so quickly when SIX OTHER AC did NOT develop any such issue in 3 decades? He starts blaming LG COMPANY.


So, we paid for the AMC. They said the job would be done in 3 working days. 4 FULL weeks have passed till now and just today, they took the indoor unit to replace the piping.


Now, the most galling thing is the technicians are laughing and asking us why we bought that AC because IT IS A FAILURE MODEL AND FREQUENTLY DEVELOPS REPAIRS.


So, I ASKED THEM HOW A LAY MAN IS SUPPOSED TO KNOW that, why did the AC TECHNICIANS recommend LG AC when they already knew that and why did BAJAJ ELECTRONICS recommend it?


Then, they go on defensive, telling that my town 80% AC are purchased from LG only and about 10% of them develop this model and hence, you can’t blame the company.


So, I retorted that in that case, why are you blaming me for it and why are you calling the model a FAILED MODEL?


They didn’t have any answer.


After they took the unit, I went online and checked the BAJAJ ELECTRONICS & LG website and found that the model was no longer available for sale.
