Life is what you make it is another widely read novel by preety shenoy who is also the writer of books like "the secret wish list". I was disappointed with the book. The title ensures the readers that by the end of the book they will take back something motivating from it but the story within is pitifully depressing.
The book revolves around a girl who lives in a small city but harbours big dreams, of leaving the city and moving up the success ladder. While trapped in this tiny city she meets a boy who falls in love with her. Things go well for a while but then she decides to move out of the city live her big dream and hence she decides to severe all ties with the city including the relationship.
Devastated with her decision the boy commits suicides. She blames herself for the incident and nevertheless moves to the big city where she gets trapped within herself and finds out she has bipolar disorder. It is a story of how she overcomes it . the idea is very immature and so are the characters. One wants to leave the other for all the small reasons and the other took his own life for the same reason. Overall the book remains themeless.
