Rare are movies I wish to watch again an again.

The First thing I would like to do is to express my regret of watching Such an Awesome Movie at Cinemax in 3D..The entire theatre was crying for BLURRED Vision.

Changing glasses also did not help.No 3D effect  plus I felt like suffering from grave Myopia.I wished if I would have watched it in 2D instead of going to cinemax. Well, no doubt, definitely I will go again for it. I can watch it any number of times.

IS IT THE NEXT AVATAR?

This question was the main reason to create the fuss about the movie within me.The Trailor added the excitement to it.To be honest, Avatar and Life of Pi both are way different from each other , both being  great visual treat The latter being better in terms of moral, plot and a truely unbelievable adventure as it says.Avatar was a clear fantasy and imagination, much childish in its plot which took animation to new level but lacked in great PLOT. On the other hand, Life of PI explores the inner self and realisaztion of a human through a lifetime experience and more believable story .Better you don’t go out there to watch it with Avatar in mind.

The movie moves at a constant pace.It is also funny at places. (Not as grave and serious as 127 hours or cast Away).

Graphics and 3D:

It is hard to believe that the animals were not real and all that I just saw few hours back was more of  graphic. SUPERB and KUDOS to Graphic and Animation team! The movie has lots and lots of moments where 3D will thrill you.Strongly recommended in 3D!

Direction

Ang Lee has given an awesome masterpiece I would say.Superb Direction. Adorable Cinematography. People say that the joy of reading you can never get it from a movie. Ang Lee proves them wrong. Also, he has portrayed India very well.

Music

Mychael Danna has given very good  musical score to the movie. He proved that he was the best choice for this. Dealing with  Indian background of the character and plot would have not been much difficult for him as he worked on two India based movies in the past-Water(2005) and Kamasutra: A Tale of Love(1996).

Plot

The story is about how  through the nature of animals, the tragedies of life and  adventure , Pi realises the existence of GOD.Superb lines by Pi’s father"They are animals. What you see in Tiger’s eyes are reflection of your own emotions".

Pi belongs to an indian Zoo owner who believes in instilling a  rational way of thinking in his child rather than the blind religious faith .Pi initially being Hindu, later start practicing Christianity as well as Islam .Due to financial reasons, Pi’s family decides to shift to Canada from Pondicherry, India along with the animals .The ship meets a storm on the way and Pi is the only survival along with A Tiger, A Zebra , A hyiena and a monkey. What happens next are lessons for a lifetime and adventure of a generation. The movie gives lot of moralful lessons.

I hate it to destroy the fun.In fact, I believe that  the true joy of watching a good movie comes when you no nothing about it and there are surprises at each step. What I am writing next is a fun SPOILER and so I advice DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER!

Right from the moment the Pi steps on the life boat, his fight for survival begins. The Zebra just jumps into the boat and there’s already a hyiena and the tiger. All the animals were tranquilized by Pi’s father for transport reasons and hence the carnivores were little feable. The hyiena constantly tries to kill the boy but due to tranquilizer effect could not reach the boy who is sitting on rod at the tip of the boat. As night passes and storm calms a monkey  some how reaches the boat. It s the female monkey who loses her son in storm. The zebra, monkey and boy tries to save themselves form hyiena .Hyiena being hungry cannot stop and so starts slowly ripping off the flesh from zebra’s back who eventually falls prey. After sometime the hyiena also kills the monkey who inturn gets killed by the tiger. Being afraid of tiger the boys jumps out in water and makes a small floating boat and waits over it.The boy starts training tiger from there as he realises taming it is impossible. He feed the tiger and this becomes the reason for his survival .The boys gets attached to the Tiger. They suffer another stom and then wakes on an island shore which no man ever visited. To its surprise Boy finds that the the Island is itself carnivorous .What it gives in day time-the food and clean water-it takes back in night by killing living things on it.(A great lesson to learn from this). The boy realises that GOD gave him problems & when it became too much He gave Pi time to rest and now he should continue with his journey.By this time the tiger has been sufficiently trained to respond to Pi’s call and whistle. Departing from there they finally reach mexican cost where the tiger disappears the boy without giving him any look against the boy’s expectations. The most he regrets is that he could not say a good bye to it .He realises that some relations are just meant to be forgotten and move on. He narrates this story to two japanese who came from the shipping corporation which  owned the sinked ship. They don’t believe his part of story so he dictates another to them.

All the above is narrated by older Pi(irfan khan) to a person who is interested in writing the story.Pi leaves the final decision on the man to  decide which version of story he would like to believe

Best Moments

I really cannot distinguish which moment should be termed as best, I liked each and every bit of it.

Recommendation

Its a complete family entertainer. MUST WATCH!(in IMAX 3D).
