My review for ’Life of Pi’ on Rotten Tomatoes: 4 stars.
Whilst technically only a fable, the treatment and gravitas which the movie adaptation of ’Life of Pi’ comes with make it rather hard to denigrate it as just pubescent. The much acclaimed Taiwanese director, Ang Lee translates the popular 2001 fictional biography by Canadian writer Yann Martel into a stunning visual odyssey, that is perhaps one of the most pleasing applications of 3D cinematography yet.
The confidence of its mythical appeal is so strong that it even dares you to pick a more worldly alternative for the sequence of events, if you so choose, only for you to say ’nah’!
