Lifebuoy-A True Brand

Lifebuoy is the world?s largest selling soap, used by about 600 million consumers, with about two million tablets sold every day.Very few brands have impressed me to the extent as lifebuoy does. A simple soap for a routine purpose and so affordably priced.

Can anything be more popular than this and yet be an international brand. Surely must be Lever’s trump card. Which brand of soap with a trust as big as lifebuoy enjoys can you get priced less than 10Rs.Guess India is shining partly because of Lifebuoy ;-)

During my initial days at work in Mumbai, I had a room mate from Kerala who bought a bar of lifebuoy at the beginning of the month and very religiously and proudly cut it into 3 equal parts for bathing, washing clothes and of course Shaving ! Today he’s a reputed doctor in Bangalore and prescribes lifebuoy with the same zeal and zest with which I saw him use the soap some years back. Probably the best goodwill ambassador for the soap.

I have since become another loyal fan though I desist using it for any other thing than bathing though I am still not too happy with Lifebuoy deciding to get rid of the carbolic odour and the traditional colour and shape. I read somewhere that a fake brand of lifebuoy with the same wrapper but with ’’LIFEBOY’’ as its label selling in thousands at our numerous famous bathing ghats at Allahabad, Varanasi etc. Amazing really. But then BOY this indeed is LIFE and that’s the way we treat popular brands.

And finally if you thought ?Kyuki saas bhi kabhi bahu thi ’’ was our biggest soap ever...think again..
