This review is for Home Centre, Lifestyle Chennai. We visited Home Centre Alwarpet with an intention to buy a good coffee table/side table. There were some decent choices, and some really expensive ones. Imagine some bedside tables costing as much as 10K, but not as much appealing. But we managed to find a suitable coffee table within our budget. Surprisingly, you need to go searching for a sales guy to help you out.
The reluctant guy (since we were not big customers) gave us the pricing info and flatly said that home delivery will be free of charge only if purchases were above 10K. Home delivery rates were quoted at 700-800 bucks!! So we decided to pick it up from the store itself 4 days later. The sales guy told us that it would be compact enough to carry and would weigh around 6 kilos. I was not convinced with the weight, but agreed.
When we came over to pick it up, they kept us waiting for quite a time and we were playing musical chairs like in govt. offices. Finally we got our package and it was close to 18 kilos, and they were not even willing to tie it up with a rope/cord so that it is easier to hold. We requested them that we have to go on 2 wheeler with this stuff, so need a rope to hold it tight. He just walked off!
That’s not all. We were promised that the carpenter would be able to come at our convenience to assemble the table. But in-spite of multiple calls, there was no sign of any carpenter. Each time, we were just told that they will call us back in 5 mins after checking the details. Don’t know what they are still checking, because we assembled it ourselves eventually.
HOPELESS CUSTOMER SERVICE. All they want is highly priced sales - no customer service for small time buyers. Hope the store manager is reading this.
