I wanted to share my experiences and thoughts as a parent who was moving to bangalore in Jan 2006 , with the laden anxiety of finding a good play school for my child who was 2. Since I was based out of Koramangala I did a lot of research on the internet. I did find a lot of names, but no reviews and no expression of opinion on the schools listed. We made an extensive list of montessori schools alone and armed with a questionnaire we set out on our quest. After visiting 8 schools we came to Little Feat Montessori school in Korama ngala near the Sony World.
No sooner had we stepped in my daughter told me " MOM I want this school...!!!" There we were struck with joy and excitement as this was the only one she seemed to like. The others had either no garden, no play area, some on the first floor, some too cramped. This school looked just right for me, and she felt the same way too! There was no looking back!!! :)What I really appreciate about the school:
The principal, the staff, the teachers and all the girls who help with the children are EXTREMELY" patient and loving.
There is individual attention and excellent montesorri methods practised.
Very good toilet training - This was a concern to me as my kid had been in the U.S before and still on diapers. Aunty assured me that she would be off it in a month and YES SHE DID COME OFF DIAPERS IN A MONTH!.
There is a very good student teacher ratio and the method of presentation of the montessori material is very attractive.
Periodic PTA`s where the parents get to see the material taught.
My daughter who could not speak a word of english, was capable enough of narrating a small story in just 6 months, . I was amazed.
Extreme care is taken to see that the child is felt at home and greater care taken when they are given play time on the swings and slides. They are always WATCHED.
The children are completely safe as there is always a security on the gate and excellent monitoring of the gates at all times.
Nominal fees, and you can really see your child blossom in terms of expression and thought. On the whole its a lovely school for a child to go to...Pity that we are moving away from Bangalore again else I would have loved her to complete here until M3.
