I rate it 6 on a scale of 10 - A good bike

Hi Friends,

This is my first review on mouthshut.com and I hope it will help readers make up there minds about purchasing a good bike which suits there requirements and fits in there budget. As this review is about LML Freedom I’ll talk most about it only. Well to start with I would like to know that I own a LML Freedom and purchased it in mid of Jan 2003. Before going for this bike I test rides several other bikes and read whatever information and reviews were available online, which includes reviews on mouthshut.com to know about views and its performance report and then compared features and pros and cons of different bikes. I wanted to go for an overall good bike and finally decided on LML Freedom. I dont want to give details of its specifications etc. as I dont remember all :P .

In short it has almost all the basic features which all recent four stroke bikes are having. After riding this bike for around 8 months I am not very much satisfied as it lacks in power and is giving some trouble for last one or two month Like at times not picking up speed and if it is then run a little heavier and engine starts making noise as it is being forced to run on a speed which is beyond its capacity. And some other times it runs very smooth. Well may be service engineer are not taking care of it. Yes service of LML Service Stations is very poor. They dont give much time to individual bikes and just do a routine maintenance and dont check how they are performing so faults are rarely removed unless untill u insist on to check them throughly. Ok lets we come back to topic....Yes as I told you that I wanted to go for an overall good bike so I believe it is. Although lacking in few things which I personally feel are also important in long run as if you are going to spend ur hard earned money on a bike you should also expect it to serve you better for atleast initial few years unless untill you start feeling that it has paid in return what you spent on that.

My criteria of an overall good bike was...

  1. Good engine performance.

  2. Smooth in running.

  3. Good Pickup so that you can negotiate well in traffic

  4. Good shockers to keep your riding experience enjoyable as Indian roads you know how they are.

  5. Good Mileage

  6. Obviously good looks too.

Well let me talk about each thing in the sequence I mentioned them.

Yes its engine is good but not tough and very strong. Its noiseless or better say make very less noise. In the initial two-three months its engine was almost noiseless and no vibrations. Sometimes I had to check it again if it has started. But as I told u is not very strong and tough. If somebody try to check its power it will not perform well as its just a 111 CC and as I remember 8.5 BHP with 7200 rpm. Which I feel is not sufficient for a good bike to perform well in long run.

Yes its smooth in running if driving on a speed of 40-50 km/hr. Well I have seen that Driving it on a slow or high speed affects its engine performance and smooth running badly. The bike will start giving trouble and no more smooth riding :( as I am facing these days. Its pickup is certainly good as compared to Hero Honda’s Splender and TVS Victor and Bajaj’s Caliber and some more. But definitely there are other bikes which gives a better pickup than this like TVS Fiero (A real good bike - If its looks had been equally good I would have gone for this only)

Well shockers are average. I feel TVS Victor is having better shockers.

As far as mileage is concerned I am still not very sure about it as when I purchased it initially it was giving an average of 50-55 than it rose to 55-60 Even at times I have got an average of 65-70 but now for last two months I feel its again degraded :( . I think I better say its giving an average around 60 Km/hr, which I feel is not very good but still OK and better than lots of other bikes. Certainly there are bikes which are giving better mileage. So if you want a real good mileage then better go all time great hero honda splender. Lastly lets talk about its looks.....hmm.......well I think its a smart bike.....better looking then a lot..............and and recently you people must have seen that now its coming in 17 colours and designs.....really great. So you have a lot of variety in that respect.

Still this bike is lacking in few things which would have made it a real good bike like its not having disk breaks which I think is a must in today’s and tomorrows traffic conditions. Its a bit less in power. I wish it would have been atleast 133 CC and around 11-12 BHP if not more Anyway its overall a good bike but if you dont consider mileage a point to think about and money is not a matter then I strongly recommend that you go for ENFIELD BULLET. Its having no match and is a superb bike in all respect except a little costlier than this and gives a low mileage but indeed it worth for money Hope this review will help you making your mind about any bike.
