People wanting to read a real review on the movie should check out...mouthshutdotcoms revu, coz I dont think mine is a part of the strictly revu category. I am just writing what I thought while and after watching the movie. If you think I should move it to some other category, tell me how to and where. Ill think. If you do not like it, even if u rate it nu, its ok. Just read it n let me know what you thought.
LOC - Kargil
I watched the movie yesterday night and today, sitting in the school bus for 40 mins, I kept thinking of what to write in its review. But I havent the slightest clue where to start from. Its such a vast variety of things u feel when u watch the movie. (emotions? Now using this word makes me feel Im writing something too filmy so.. )
The film might have had its share of flaws, bad acting performances by some, certain unrealistic picturisations, but which movie doesnt? Most of the time, I didnt even mind the awful acting of some of the female leads, because they didnt matter. If a movie is such that you do not mind its flaws, its definitely a well made movie.
The movie compels you to think. The very fact that most of its (or were all of em) characters were based on real life people, lends it a kind of credibility and realisticness which movies rarely have. Obviously, on a technical level too, the movie just had to be more realistic because it IS, after all, based on a real event. If you keep thinking about a war movie after its 3 hours (or in this case 4 hours :) ) it means that the movie succeeded in conveying its emotions and its aim.
Because Im NOT a real film critic (obviously!) and I dont know much about the finer nuances of this field, I cant pinpoint the technical flaws, so I am just writing what I felt while watching the movie.
The first thing was that I felt verry angry at the stupid (hehe, no expletives, there were enough already in the movie) Pakistani intruders. I cannot imagine!! why they suddenly decided to cross the LOC! I have no problem with pakistani people, I just felt angry at the intruders, obviously they were doing a wrong thing! And now that I think of it, I think enraged!! would be a better word than angry!!!
And then, as the movie went on, I realised the kind of strength and courage needed to just go out there into the battlefield leaving your whole world behind, knowing that most probably you wont ever be back alive. Each and every person in the war, from the lowest to the highest rank is in equal danger to their lives, and still they are there. We are not. Thats the difference between us and them!
We might be the CEOs of gigantic MNCs , toppers of our schools/colleges, doctors, politicians or anything, still, there will be no way we could ever match their selfless loyalty to the nation.
We can just devote our lives, they sacrifice theirs.
I am a person who didnt cry watching KHNH (ok I did cry, when the movie turned out be such a rotten one) , but when I saw Saif(was his father incredibly wrong or what- long lifeline!!!) and Abhishek (from madhuri, with love) being shot like that, I started crying. I had watched the real program by barkha dutt where Vikram Batra actually said Yeh dil maange more. So...it felt like watching the man die in reality.
(I havent told my friends that I cried, I know theyll laugh, n most of u will too, but I dont care!) hehe
I read on someones revu (?) that A soldier’s emotions can be expressed without the need of actually showing a deluge on screen . For that matter, we all are already aware of what all dangers our soldiers have to face in wars, but we choose to ignore their plight, we choose to go on with our lives without spending more than a minute thinking about them. eg. There was a function in our skool remembering the martyrs from the Kargil war, n we were told to stand in silence for two minutes. We did. But nobody, I can guarantee, not a single person thought about them seriously. We were more occupied by thoughts about homework, tests, friends....and its the same everywhere..
Now I know you are going to laugh, but let me just tell you (FYI & GK :) that when I was in KG I wanted to join the army, I changed my mind a few years back but I think they dont send women to wars anyway. WHICH IS BTW SOO UNFAIR!!!
Anyways, cee ya people, I am sorry if I bored you, I am sorry if this isnt the kind of review you were looking for, Ill write other reviews, u all keep reading.
BUT if you happen to think this was a movie which just spreads hatred, you just dont know real hatred or real patriotism.
Next review will definitely not be this serious, so chill :)
