And J.P. Dutta made a 4 hour film without a script in hand....
And he assembled the biggest star cast ever on the Indian celluloid...
And he did thorough research on the subject...
And he used 13 cameras for single shots , first time in Indian cinema...
And real artillery was used ...
And star cast went through a similar weather and living conditions as the soldiers
And he met the Kargil War heros families, took input from them...a dozen diaries in hand before the shooting started...
And he never wanted to make another war film but was moved by the cause..
All stars have complete faith in his capabilities, they never ask for a script....
Does that ensure a good movie ?
Yes and No
LOC is a well documented account of the Kargil War fought in 1999.
YES - Thumbs Up
The canvas is big. The locations are real, the efforts are humongous.
It is technically a class product. Music is brilliant. All actors have acted well.
NO, thats not cool
The length of the movie. Its hard to watch the same stuff for 4 hrs.
The story - there is no story. We have heros , there sweethearts crying for them, they calling there loved ones on satellite phones, winning posts, taking bullets and becoming martyrs.
The emotions, the pain of loss , the sense of victory is missing. Every war movie has a heart, an emotion , a central driving force around the plot, and that is totally missing in this 4 hour saga.
At its best, its a great documentary, but not a movie that expresses the pain of war , the sense of victory.
Beware, If you are going to watch the movie with family, the mother sister abuses goes all way long...although no complaints about it, u cannot have great compliments for the enemy who is shooting you in your eye.

Actors -
Ajay Devgan brings sincerity and stand apart from other heros.
Manoj Bajpai & Ashutosh Rana - gets author backed role and do justice to it.
Saif - is cool and carry his part with an ease.
Abhishek Bachchan - delivers a better performance this time.
Sanjay Dutt - express a lot through his eyes and body language.
Others , come and go .
Actresses - no comments (I was blinking the eye and missing them)
On the whole.... Forget the movie, respect the effort and ’’Bus Itna Yaad Rahe , Ek Saathi Aur Bhi Tha’’
