The biggest disease ailing India, as we are brainwashed to believe in the Government scripted Textbooks, is not Illiteracy, not ignorance, not fundamentalism, not terrorist, and definitely not our enemy countries. It’s a 10000 tonne rampaging T-Rex called WELFARE STATE(mai baap sarkaar in Hindi) which devours everything standing in it’s way. Rest all are symptoms and manageable problems once the major disease is cured.

*A diabolic disease that impacts every major nation on Earth, more so - the poorer Developing and/or Under-Developed countries, which incidently cannot afford to be so.

People who wrongly believe the Government has a social responsibilty to look after the welfare of it’s poor. The so-called Leftists, Socialists and Communists. They are all the same. Leftists are those who have contracted the disease mildly. Communists are a terminally ill manifestation.

HISTORY
Though many consider it benign, it has been a failed experiment everywhere. Catastrophic in consequence to every country that accepted it as state policy. It originated in Europe during Industrial Revolution. Got rejected there and found a new host in Soviet Russia and China. After it sucked Russia dry of it’s superpower status, it got dropped unceremoniously by it’s erstwhile champion China. Within decades they are on their way to become the next Superpower!
*PROGNOSIS
Zealots of the Welfare state believe government has unlimited funds at it’s disposal - a very wrong assumption. Government funds come from TAXES paid by businesses and hardworking citizens.
In order to be a Welfare state government needs to levy higher taxes, which also lead to higher tax evasions which in turn lead to further increase in taxes. In order to collect (fleece) the really high taxes Government needs to maintain a bloated army of corrupt Tax collectors who compound the problem instead of simplifying it. Huge bloated departments with a large number of babus are created to disburse the dole-outs. An army of corrupt inspectors is created to keep checks and balances. Net results - this bloated bureaucracy eats away a huge fraction of the dole outs, and taxes keep increasing year after year for the maintenance of this mamoth machinery.
Strong healthy nations have been built only on the foundation of hardwork, and never on Welfare; which is a politically correct name for turning citizens into shameless beggars, who lack work ethics and moral values. In a Welfare state there is no incentive to work harder and move up in life. The more you earn the more the Government fleeces from you. And what for? The parasites living off Government dole outs can breed more of their ilk!. The cruel joke is, after a time, these parasites begin to think it’s their birthright to suck blood off their hardworking fellow citizens! Once that happens, the society is on a suicidal one-way track to disaster.
*CURE
There is only one purpose for the creation of’Government’ - to govern/administer the country and keep it safe from internal and external threats. Government should NEVER try to solve the social problems of the country. Those should be left to NGOs and charities.
Government should facilitate and encourage it’s citizens to work harder and produce more wealth. Taxes should be lower. With more money in peoples hand businesses will flourish, economy will prosper and the country as a whole will benefit. Government should NOT turn its citizens into criminals(Tax evaders) by imposing insanely high direct and indirect taxes. Imagine the level of morality in a country where almost everyone’s a criminal(tax evader) out of compulsion!
To that to happen we need a leaner government that concentrates only on it’s duty - protection of the society from anti-social elements and external threats. We don’t need a huge administrative machinery that does nothing but corrupts the nation. Government must shed it’s social responsibilty - which as the name suggests should be handled by the society and not the Big Brother government.
Otherwise the day is not far when the Welfare State, like all Dinosaurs, becomes extinct under it’s own rotten weight, taking the country with it.
