Pure Nabokov

Pure delight in book form! Beg to differ from previous revewer - this masterpiece written by a former Cornell University MFA program faculty member (I’m not sure how long Nabokov was at Cornell in the 1960s) - has very little to do with:

Aunties

Their daughters, etc

(you sick man)

but instead has to do with POV, incredible expositionary paragraphs and profound memories of Nabakov’s first kiss during childhood ("salty, sublime"). These are transfused into the fictional account of a European professor’s "spiritual" lust (Humbert Humbert) for the underage daughter of his landlady (Lo - Li - Tah ).

Does poor Humbert realize the social taboo itself could the means to escape the spiritual vacuum of 1950’s American suburbia? It’s neat conventions are turned upside down inside Humbert Humbert’s deluded mind....

Well, without revealing the ending, find this book at Waldend or Crosswords or Himalaya Books stores - its worth your pursuit!
