Capital of the World

Arriving at Heathrow is an experience. Traverse the length and breadth of London using the tube. This is the best and cheapest way to see what you want, when you want. Get on top of the decker to see inner London.

Terminal 4 is currently being upgraded so you might have to use the bus instead of the tube.

Have you seen my fair lady ? Don’t miss out Covent Garden where one can relax at Punch and judy with a pint. There are many amatuer bands playing at the basement during the evenings. Some of the street jugglers are amusing. The tiny Thornton’s chocolate store is a delight and I suggest that you try out a bar of the Oriental Ginger. Nags head serves good Ales. Porter house is a modern trendy pub. Try the Iranian restaurant off the corner.

I survive out of Marks and Spencers food store as they are clean, affordable and has an amazing range of wraps and sanwiches. The peking duck is awesome (£ 2.99)

There is a great deal of walking that can be done. A couple of trips down Oxford street to quench your thirst at Hog in the Pound. The £ 1 pizza slice should keep you going for the day.

John Lewis offers value for money shopping. The basement has a wonderful collection of affordable ( 99 p) hand made cutlery.

Hamley’s toy store at Regent street brings out your child instincts.

Fancy a Wedgewood for your showcase ? Visit the seconds store.

Millennium bridge does not wobble anymore. Pettycoat lane has a great collection of old music (Que sera sera) Some of the pubs around offers local ales, which is a dying spirit. The rising sun in the North has some authentic stuff or The Bedford at Balham. Voted pub of the year 2001.

Ben and Jerry ice cream counter at Piccadilly will take you to Trafalgar square. Trocadero is a farce.

If you are looking for some genuine South ’’Indian’’ food, head for the Rasa at Charlotte Street.

Hampstead is a village which gets active during the weekends and there are many flea markets operating. Babushka is cool for the 25ish. Golders green is a paradise with lots of parks and walks. The Vietnamese restaurants have these ’’eat as much as you can’’ for £ 3. A few friendly home stays for £ 28 pppn.

West Hampstead had the advantage of tube and surface rail. There are lively pubs and many 24 hour stores that offers midnight snacks and kebabs. Try the Railway View.

Brent cross shopping centre has whatever Oxford street can offer.

Take a bus or the tube from Golders green. Route 13 from Oxford is another way of seeing London.

Ever thought what Kosher food it all about ? You need to get to Golders green or Edgware to try out ’KFC’ aka Kosher Fried Chicken. Its yummy.

North west has some nice Irish pubs where you can try out the regular ’craigs’

and guinness.

Don’t attempt to drive in central London unless you have a GPS in your car. Its a hair raising experience.

Camden locks / market is a delightful place to visit during weekends. You could pick up some tattoos and african curios. The upmarket Portebello road is a photographer’s delight.

Driving around England is easy and a delightful experience. Its a great cost saver if there are 4 people (£ 8 per day). Kendall is highly recommended.

Saturday borough markets are a delight with organic farm products. Hope in to the local Market porter pub for a quick pint of Hampshire ale
