A fantastic 2nd episode!

I saw LOTR-TTT on Christmas day! we knew that since it was christmas, the only ppl we’d find in the cinema hall would be indians, chinese and jews who’ve nothing better to do on a christmas morning! how right we were! there were only handful of ppl in the hall!

anyway, I missed out on one imp movie watching aspect on the 1st instalment of LOTR! I watched it on a video tape on my dainty 19’’ tv at home, the tape was of poor quality and the sound was awful and I pretty much was ’enchanted’ if I must use the word, by the horses coming out of water sequence! apart frm that, the whole fight sequence between dragon and gandolf and what not made wanna yawn and go to sleep! I couldn’t understand all the hype associated with the movie! little did I know that some movies are meant only for the big screen! like devdas for example...uhh let me just stick to one topic at a time, shall discuss devdas at some other point!

so coming back to the 2nd instalment of LOTR, I found it spectacular!! absolutely stunning visual effects and my aunt kept on referring legolas the elf as arjun (since he had bow and arrows)! I think most ppl who condemn the movie think of it as having no end or beginning and think that the story kind of goes haywire. they fail to take into consideration that this is the middle section of a 9 hour long movie! this movie picks up from where the 1st part ended and again ends rather abruptly making the viewer wanting for more which they’ll show in the 3rd part, this seems rather obvious but a few ppl with whom I saw the movie didn’t enjoy it as much as the 1st part...

the first part was better acc to them cos it was a new concept, some of the visuals were breathtaking (the horses, the dragon sequence, etc.) and it had generated quite a hype! the hype subdued when the 2nd part came along, so it failed to create that much of a stir.

since I didn’t have any comparison standard as I saw the first part in a shoddy way on my vcr, I loved the 2nd part! the only thing I detested was the weird treebeard creature or whatever his/its name is! it annoyed the hell out of me! long, boring, dragging sequences and those creatures were just too creepy! i’m never going that close to a tree again!

can’t wait for the 3rd part! and then heave a sigh of relief! no more LOTR hypes! get over with it already!!
