When I picked up this book, I was looking for a light read. I didnt imagine it would make me cry buckets and thats saying a lot, coz I dont cry over book-plots (movies are another issue altogether).
Somewhere towards the middle of the book, even before Jenny is diagnosed with her fatal illness, call it a premonition, but I knew this good time wasnt about to fade into a happily ever after ending. And I was sorely tempted to put the book away and thats saying even more coz accordingly to my very patient amma, quote unquote - If she has her head in a book, then you can set off neutron bombs all around her and one or two on her head, she wont even blink.
Well, to get back to the point, I wanted to shut the book because I knew something was coming and I didnt want to stay around to find out. But I couldnt and...
I usually read all my books at least 25 times, over and over again. But Love Story is setting up a spring collection of the Arachnid family (spiders) and their living accommodations in a VERY old trunk at home. And I dont think Ill be picking it up to read anytime soon.
Dont get me wrong........its a very beautiful Love Story but I like happy endings, call me sappy.
To all who have read it, its beautiful and poignant and makes to want to have a love like that (wishful thinking, I believe at times)...with a happy ending, of course and minus the terminal illness, please.
To those who havent read it, please do read it at least once...if only to know what you are missing.
On a last note, I think I better stop writing this before I short out my keyboard.
