Average Fanfare, all by chance

Before I even start writing about the movie, I will not focus on how the director worked and all as some of you have gone in details of technicalities. I went with an audience mindset and waiting to be surprised.

I went because of Hrithik and with all the hype of critics giving it 4/5 etc rave review, I wonder who pay these guys ;) All I can say that now I am sure critics are payed huge sum for rave reviews, and boxoffice reports are speaking for it.

Cast and Plot

Farhan Akhtar: He has improved from rock on, flat face shows some expression but his voice does not leave an impact. But yes and actor takes some more movies to bring it out, its his second movie its long way to go for him before discovering his acting skills. He needs to work on sad and shock scenes, seeing konkona sen in hotel he does not seem shocked he just stands without expressison. Also I feel he is way to lean to perform such roles.

Konkona Sen: Same old konkona Sen typecasted to the core, from life in a metro to page 3 we all have seen her like this, Konkona u really need to do a Teer and Talwar kind of movie.

Rishi Kapoor: He is the best of the lot, the only performance you will remember that entertained you was his, its no farhan, no konkona, and no hrithik, he takes the cake. He played a dumb old day producer but Brother he portrated it right ;)

Isha Sharwani: well everybody knows about her acrobatic skills her acting skills are ok nothing to write home about, she nicely played the character thats what can be said.

Dimple Kapadia: Same old lady nothing new with a hint of DCH, also played Diva nicely. with an abusive scene.

Juhi Chawla: Complimented Rishi Kapoor very well.

Hrithik Roshan: Special appereance but done with with complete commitment, some people say that kid scene was the best, I would say the best scene is when karan johar calls him to cast him for a role, he smiles as well as sad and eyes speak of excitement, that he is speaking that he sad for the hurt hero but he wants that role. That is what you call a stream of emotions flowing, face and eyes speaking with different words coming out of the mouth Brilliant!

Sanjay Kapoor: he was nice with shades of Anil Kapoor in him, but he did it perfectly as a newbie director

Others: Nice job seemed like they acted with ease. Loved the way akshay khanna said No. Spoof’s were nice and witty.

*Plot:

*The story is pretty average and I am sure it was lengthy but it was cut short to fit in the screenplay, As per me director who is as well the story writer was a confused as what to potray as ending of the movie, Farhan Akhtar has been shown out and out lucky but he does not believe in luck I mean he did not struggle at all, on the other hand konkona sen was a failuire in struggle ended up being a TV star and then all the moral gyan! I mean she ending was confused you are saying its about your hardwork and other hand its all about luck.

The screenplay was atrociously long and draggy, I mean I really can not spend 3 hrs again to watch this movie not cuz cast was bad or something, its like something I already know and I know whats coming up next. The movie seems a Bhadarkar, Farah Khan, and Anurag Basu mix, u know Reality, Multi star and life in a metro respectively. Yes movie was witty I still remember the scene where writer is supressed by Rishi Kapoor "oye ye film me festival ke liye nahi bana raha hoon", I loved the movies starting the way all the people involved in film making were shot.

Rishi kapoor was awesome and so was hrithik, and ah Karan Johar was not gayish, he somehow controlled his hand movements and seemed sophisticated. Abhishek was over the top as usual, John left a funny comment "dates ki excuse toh mein aapko de nahi sakta hoon". SRK surely was natural I am not his big fas expect swades but he was natural I liked it, talking scenes are the most tough ones believe me.

Some people here commented song bawre fitting so many ppl in one frame give me a break! I don’t care how she did that but all of em were never in same frame the frame never went in wide angle, all in all in the end it started spining my head I took my eyes of the screen as there was no sense in what was happening! Other songs were good and nicely done except that konkona sen song which I think was a useless addition and slowed down movies pace further.

Audience Reactions:

Ok this is what I noticed and being honest I am not being biased. Some people tried ivoking claps at movies start but no one joined in they tried thrice nothing happened. I felt farhan’s entry was impactless so did other as I only heard 2 people whistling and clapping surely would be die hard farhan fans. Well I came out and asked my GF would you like to come again she replied " I told you lets watch gajhini again" I didn’t gather guts to ask anyone else after that comment.

I felt imran khan or abhay deol would have justified farhan’s character better. As potraying a Delhi boy or a struggler.

Also ending was stupid, konkona sen bagged Saas as a serial, she was TV star and she was still travelling in Taxi, I think TV stars can afford a car.

Why to watch the movie:

If you are a die hard farhan fan, if u like typecasted konkona Sen, want to enjoy a bit of wit (some ppl will laugh uselessly even making that waste) and want to See Rishi Kapoor in a totally new and amazingly acted avtar. Hrithik back in small role.

All in all a movie for small genre of people and not for masses. Zoya’s direction is nice but misses many key points and leave many questions unanswered. Also peole who say movie revolves around farhan and konkona being honest I think they both have lost most of the screen space.

I will not give star rating I think star rating is for board exams and BEEE to judge fridges. Its a one time watch movie, you can watch rest on TV, if you have patience to sit for next 3 hrs upto you.

On a note just watched Face the review on zoom, no one came, but reviewer agrees with what you see above. as well as studio audience. Movie for few ppl. :)
