Luo Han is a very nice Restaurant. Weve gone there many times even taken parcel(though its waste of good food to eat it cold).
Pros:
a) Unlike most other hotels each dish tastes quite different. I feel maybe one of the reasons for orders getting to table so long could be that they dont just slap ingredients together to make the dishes but give individual attention to each dish.
b) The place believes in non-violence hence they use vegetables and tofu, soya-bean based recipes to make vegan food(non-veg people have choice of mock-chicken, mock-sea-food dishes).
c) They also dont use Ajinomoto i.e. MSG/mono sodium glutamate which can harm brain development esp. in babies and children.
d) Esp. loved the fried tofu sandwich and clear lemon-coriander soup.
e) Fresh tofu is available in bulk from the hotel.
f) The owner is very friendly and willing to share information about principles behind the hotel.
g) The food mats WERE very informative and interesting to read.
h) The decor is quite nice and authentic Chinese and the place is cozy.
i) The prices are not cheap but for the quantity of food served its not too costly either. So be sure to not over-order if people are not many or dont eat much.
Cons:
a) From my few experiences dont go here if youre really hungry and cant wait to wolf down your meal. Taking a bite or two before you go to the restaurant is a good idea.
b) Waiting time may vary from 30 minutes to 50 minutes, so try to order everything in one-shot. But itll be worth it as the food is really delicious.
c) They tend to bring the dishes in all at once instead of one by one. So please tell the waiters repeatedly to bring what is available first and not all at once.
d) One of the owners(an elder lady) is a bit irritable, so best to avoid/reduce interaction with her.
