I dont know whether I should be writing about azhar or not.we all know that what he has done was not good but we should also not forget the contributions he has made for indian cricket. the most successful indian test captain, the man with the fastest hundred for india in one day internationals, the greatest fielder to have ever stepped his foot on the fields of indian cricket, the man who had redefined the art of classical batting with his imperialistic wrist work, is sadly now a fallen hero in indian cricket. the story of azhar goes back right in 1984 when he made his debut against england and then there was no looking back. he consolidated his place in the indian team by making centuries in each of his first three tests, the record that is still held by him, then somwhere around 1989-1990, when indian cricket was going through a lean period, raj singh dungarpur offered him the post of captain with these famous words, ’’miyan captain banoge’’. and after that what happened, we all know. but the greed of money has ruined a many and azhar was no exception and then he went on to commit the crime that would be associated with his name till the last day of this world, ’’fixing matches’’.
so it would be correct to say that azhar is definetely a fallen hero in indian cricket but a man whose career was enmarked with remarkable achievements.
