This, without a doubt is one of the greatest coffee shops I have been to and an all time favourite. Since it is my favourite, it is likely that the same will get an obvious reflection in my review of the coffee shop. But I will try to be as objective as possible leaving aside my personal feelings for the place.
Ambience and Decor:
Now, Machaan I believe used to be much better before the rennovation (that happened recently). It used to have that rustic wild, jungle sort of a decor that use to add to the ambience. The new Machaan however seems a little more clinical for a coffee shop however, the new majestic bay windows that they have added look quite terrific. I also feel that the furnishing was better earlier, one used to feel comfortable and cozy to certain extent sitting in that place whereas now it feels a little uptight being there.
(Between u all and me...i wish they could strip the staff off that silly uniform and give them something better to wear....By the way those uniforms were designed by some very famous designer in India. Now that I wonder!!!!)The music normally is good but the last two times I have been there, their record player was hell bent on playing Bryan Adams..despite my requesting them 10 times.
Service levels / Hospitality:
I must say they have one of the most efficient and likeable staff. U would always find a smile on their already shining faces so, full marks to them for that. Just one point I would like to highlight (though I hate to admit that because of my earlier association with the company)that the guys at the restaurants (and all over taj for that matter) need to be consistent with their service levels. They must understand that each person that walks into the place is as important as any other famous VIP. The staff at Machaan is also suffering from that same’’known guest are more valuable’’ syndrome. Rest all is just 10 on 10
Food / Cuisine
Guys, at this juncture I will not be able to control my feelings. I guess they are just too good with their food and desserts. One must try their chicken club sandwitch (Please note that for me chicken is a prefix that u use in any dish I ever talk about...i do not understand the vegetarian language..and yes no chicken with desserts...haan!), Butter chicken and Chicken Escalope. Now, for desserts (if u ever happen to be there in near or distant future)just close your eyes and order a BULL’S EYE...WOW!!!!IT IS JUST DIVINE. Their Falooda Badshahi is also amazing.
Economies of wallet strings
Hey u obviously do not want me to write about this right!! I would rather assume that if you enter the place you are loaded so, no making no bones bout it!!
To conclude:
It’s a great place to hangout in. You get to see the cream de la cream of Delhi in this place especially on a saturday late night. The pub next door (Guess it’s called Riks now!!)is also making rave news in the market... so there is a complete entertainment package for those who can!
