The exciting eighties and Ms Maggi!

I am part of the generation that is now passe.I grew up in the eighties.Things were so different then. There was no Cartoon Network, no computers and certainly fewer things to eat.I think it was 1983 when Maggi was introduced. Before its advent noodles took days to cook(well, almost). It was an exotic dish and few ladies knew the good recipes.Maggi changed all that.It was sold in attractive looking yellow packets and contained a pouch of tastemaker.Using the tastemaker it was possible to complete cooking the noodles in water within two minutes. Now, that was a great idea.

The children loved Maggi.Indeed, its taste seemed tailored to suit their palate. But adults loved it too.Because it could be cooked so very fast and was so easy to eat.Indeed, the name of the product appeared to be a lady’ name, at least to you. Those were the exciting, exuberant eighties when product after product was launched for general consumption.Maggie had many flavours.Over the years Maggie has changed, has evolved. But its essential goodness as a children’s meal remains constant.Other brands have come and gone but Maggi retains its place in the hearts and minds of millions of indians.
