Excellent truck for the money. I run a turbo diesel 4x4 double cab pick up on the Wild Coast of South Africa and the truck is rugged and reliable. I have not had one significant problem with the truck. The fuel economy is better than my Isuzu 2wd diesel double cab. 4wd is reliable and very simple. Low range is really low and I usually start in 2nd gear in low range.
The bolero runs 50% of the time on foot paths and doing survey work. It never gets stuck and rarely is 4wd needed. The approach angle is very good but departure angle is less than desirable unless you remove the spare wheel which we have done. My only complaints are the small fuel tank and the door straps. We carry two 20litre cans with us as we travel because diesel can be hard to find at times. Weve replaced the door stopping straps with a heavier duty strap and they give us no problems.
In low range it will climb a tree. Lots of torque for towing. It is a winner off road and a contender on road. I just wish the at the Bolero SUV was available here. We load the bolero with sand, block, dirt, people, food, tents, quad bikes, and tow a trailer. No hassles ever from the machine. It runs through rivers of mud, on roads that have ceased to exist and has forged many new roads.
Great scout vehicle and great work truck. The bed capacity is excellent. Ive had 20 people in the load box and have forged through mud and ruts with no hassles. I highly recommend the vehicle for work. It is not a luxury truck, it is a workhorse.
