I was probably one of the early purchasers of Logan 1.4 Petrol car having bought it in June 2007 just when it was launched. Since then, I have appreciated the in cabin seating comfort, elbow and leg room space even with 3 perosns sitting in the back and the large boot space but I’ve noted quite a few negatives which I would like to share and also get comments of fellow users of this car.
First and the largest problem I’ve been facing is the fuel consumption which instead of improving after 3 services has actually one down. I’ve done around 16000 kms. in 16 months. Earlier, it was logging around 9.50-10.0 kms. per litre comfortably (city ride with AC on), which is not great but somewhat acceptable. However, now it has gone down to around 8.25-8.50 per litre only. I complained to the dealer and they did a fuel consumption check with their person sitting in the car and the average was 8.3 kms. per litre only. They said it is quite OK for a large petrol car with AC on. I don’t believe this to be true and think there may be a problem with my car and hence want other owners feedback on this point.
Second problem is that the outside engine noise is hard to ignore. Many people have asked me whether my car is a diesel one. The engine tuning can’t be changed as this car has a new technology engine which doesn’t require tuning. The dealer is unable to take care of it and my fuel consumption problem may be linked to the engine noise.
Thirdly, the steering inspite of being a power steering is relatively very hard and should be a lot more easier to operate.
No boot opening system from inside in a car of this price and size is unacceptable (i agree that this negative was known at the time of purchase but still it is a negative).
The nuts and bolts are not tightened properly and the front door nuts tend to loosen even after tightening and create noise while opening and closing the doors. The seats have also started creaking a little. The window glass also creates a jarring sound when the door is shut. The suspension could also be improved for a smoother ride.
The nozzle spray has a tendency to throw water everywhere but on the windshield even after frequent adjustments.
