I am 6 feet 3 inches and have been waiting to buy a car in which I would fit in with ease from past 5 years and my prayers have been answered. Enough of yada yada I will go in to the specifics and will not write stuff which is already there on the mahindrarenault.com web site.Looks cool on the road and definately a head turner. This car is for people with large familes or tall people. Not ment for cities where roads are small. The turning radius around 5.25 which is high. What I liked:The car is spacious and 5 tall guys can easily fit in. The diesel engine is really good and very silent. Its got a second generation crdi engine.
At first gear you don’t need to step on accelerator the engine is very torque at low RPM so don’t need to do lot of gear change. The gear box is awesome and very responsive. The power steering is good and responsive on low speeds and gets cut off on high speeds. The interiors are well designed and lot of utility like armrests on the door and seats are very ergonomically. Low noise in the engine cabin and the AC is decent. and the good thing is you don’t need to off the AC to climb steep hills. The engine is pretty powerful. The pick up is ok but not that great. Went to 100 with ease but not sure beyond that it can go with ease. The white and the red color really look good. Amazing paint job they have done.
The Back seat shape is such that three guys can sit comfortably in ergonomical position.I liked the music player they have given. Nothing jazzy to look at but the speakers have been well placed. What I dint like:Whole of the car looks like as if it is made for left hand drive and only the steering has been changed to right hand. In fact the position of wipers are to the right and the signal light is to the left. The hood release is to the passenger side so if you are alone in the car you will have to reach out.The passengers on the rear seat may not enjoy the ride on bumpy road.
The Shocks on the back are not that great or it could be because the car is kind of light weight so it keeps bouncing. Not sure what is the reason but it is bearable. There is only one indicator to indicate the signal lights, I found it iretating. You wouldn’t know which light signal you are in.The boot release is absent. The wipers are the same as in left hand model so driver wiper may not clean that well. There is only one reverse light indicator and the other one is supposed to be rear defogger. Very confusing for the guys who are looking at the back.Even with the high end model they don’t give ABS.
I could not find justification for the 90K difference between the low end and the high end Even though I booked the high. For short guys this is not a car I would recommend. If it had a tilt steering I would think it would have been great and even the virticaly challenged could have used.I wish they had put a larger break pedal. Now all the there pedals are of almost the same size. The front head rests may be only useful for people who are very tall for others no luck. The Bumpers at the middle are kindof soft. Dont know why they did that, May be to protect the pedestrians but I found then to be too soft Just to make sure I compared the scorpio bumpers and they were rock solid. You will always have to rest your left leg on the middle console piller while driving could be a side affect of porting the left hand rive to right hand drive.
Any Ideas on how to fix this ?Don’t worry about the clearance which every one seams to be cribbing about. The 155 mm they have give is for laden weight or with 5 people in the car. The sales guy told me it will be around 170 unladen weight and other manufactures advertise unladen weight.I believe them as I have driven on speed breakers and the car went with out any problem.
