Good Car but

I own a logan Dlx for last three years and have just crossed 150000 kms. (business reasons and not in TAXI as some might guess). I hope to help those who want to own this vehicle and those who own this but are facing problems.


Firstly the good things about this Car


Space inside / boot - More than any car


Mileage - 17 kmpl in city but shoots to 22kmpl+ on highways when driving at 90kmph.


Engine - Too good an engine to be fitted in this ugly body. No problem in last 1.5 lac kms. Not many cars can boast of this. U c its a proven DACIA engine with minimum lifespan of 5 lac km. I would try to run it for at least another 2 lac km as I know it will. Even engineers at rival companies know and appreciate the quality of the engine renault manufactures.


Strong body - I think they have tried making a tank but failed a bit so made LOGAN.


Now the real BAD parts:


1) Steering - Its worst I have seen in any car till date. Thats’ why I have not seen a single lady driving this car till date.


2) Clutch - Anyone having driven a truck can tell you its harder than a trucks. Although they have improved upon it in Avrito but all old users feel cheated. They will overhaul it for 10000 bucks and it imporoves a bit for a fortnight and then goes back to old ways.


3) headlight - My scooter has better lights than this. dont you dare drive faster on highway with this car.


4) Vipers - irritatingly in reverse order and always leave water in centre of screen


5) gear box - too big gear shift for a sedan


6) . troublesome with such hard clutch


7) Interiors - low quality


8) Spare parts - costliest spares in all cars priced below 10 lacs. most parts are 5-10 times costlier than that of a maruti / toyota car. MIND it.


9) Availability of parts - most of the parts are not available with the dealers. many a times you wont get them before a week or two. Also even if you need emergency repairs you have to wait for atleast 3-4 days.


So SHOULD ONE BUY THIS CAR OR NOT ?


You must have reasons like you drive a lot, need good mileage, good cabin and boot space , strong body then its your car but you must also have big pockets whenever the car breaks down or need small part replacement like brake shoes, suspension parts, shockers, healdlight bulbs, etc etc Also you need to know that if the car breaks down midway, then you are at the mercy of god as no parts will be available with dealers and also no local parts fit with this EUROPEAN car.


Mahindra people are not interested in selling this car and more importantly their dealers dont want to service this car. So no use buying a car with no service backup and spare guarantee.


now people have a choice and they can go for maruti/toyota cars in deisel which cost almost the same, are a pleasure to drive and have easy services and parts available in every nook and corner.


Even their local spares are available with most mechanics. here you need to buy only from mahindra dealers as this car has not sold well so not many want to manufacture their compatible parts.

what should old buyers do?


I can help people in and around delhi. Find a good service guy outside of mahindra dealers. Their old mechanics or service advisors can help with names of people who worked there earlier and have started their own shops. They will give same services at half the price and even lesser time. Whenever you need any part of LOGAN just go to BCD dealers shop near kashmere gate ISBT and you will get all the parts at atleast 30-70% lesser price than service stations. BCD is the original mahindra dealer and supplier to most delaers of north India.
