Best Indian made.

After being a proud owner of Wagon R for 7 years, I was always looking out for an MUV. My  initial choice was an Innova. However after comparing it’s price, I checked out Xylo. I was very much impressed at the very first  look of it.

I  took couple of  test drives and finally settled for Xylo E8. I bought Xylo E8 recently and drove around 1000 KM. It was really a fantastic experience. The vehicle runs smooth and under control at speed of 130 KMPH. Xylo performs very well on almost all kind of terrains but this is my first diesel car and I wasn’t too happy with the noise levels and vibration when compared to my wagon R. However, within its class I think Xylo is a great car.

When was the last time you heard of parking sensors in a MUV? Or a multi-information display? Or flat bed seats that allows you to sleep in comfort on the move? The Xylo packs in a lot of features to provide  the best in class combination of comfort and practicality. The pricing has not only made the competition scratch its head but given shivers to quite a few sedans as well. It might not be great to look at but the view of the angry front face in the rear view mirror helps others give you way on the road. Four years in the making, home grown brand M&M has pulled off a genuine winner with Xylo and it can proudly flaunt and pat its back for the effort. The ride quality is decent. There are a few downfalls like nervous dynamics or the debatable looks, but for a typical Indian joint family on a budget, this vehicle is the definite answer. Moreover, Xylo is capable of taking a bit of rough driving.

In comparison with Innova pricing, Innova is unnecessarily overpriced in all cases. Why the hell 2.5V new Innova costs 13.7L with airbags/ABS that too without leather seats?? Another idiotic thing I don’t understand why are the sedans like Altis /Camry costs much higher than Innova??  I wish Indians cars introduce Indian version but a good competitor to foreign cars. Xylo is an excellent starter on that strategy and good job by M&M.

Overall a very good value for money and feature rich. It comes with many sensible features like parking assistant and digital drive assist.

The dislikes are : The plastic of inside dashboard, no light in bonnet for any emergencies and cabin sound of engine. Interiors is a major drawback as they don’t give the feel of a premium car. Strength of the sheet metal could be another question.
