Reality shown with simplicity & beauty.

The day I saw the trailer for this movie, I decided on watching it! Reasons:??

  1. Rajpal Yadav

  2. Very different story line

  3. seemed experimental.

This is a story about Mithilesh aka ’’Chhote Babu’’ (Rajpal Yadav), who is incharge of a Library in some University at UP. He is in his 30s and a bacheolar. Chhote babu is so called for his stature of 5 2’’. He is very earnest with his current profile at the college and has involved himself so much with work that he hardly had time to think of wooing!

He has a very well nit joint family. His father has expired and his mother is a loving woman, who has her tear bags full....no matter what the occasion is! This pretty much is the reality in small town....the day I broke the news to my mom about me flying to London...she started crying over the phone! And when I asked her, she said ’’Tu nahi samjhega, chintu’’. I gave up after swearing that I will not get any Phirangi Ladki home! LOL....

Getting back to the movie, the family is a middle class family with all the members closely knitted! Thank god..no saas-bahu politics here. Basically, these are the families you will get to see in small towns or villages.

So, the ’’Pandit ji’’ comes up with a probable candidate for our Chhote Babus marriage. Chhote babu goes all bombastic.... I am not sure if I am in agreement with him, when he says ’’Aap ko main khush accha nahi lagtha?’’.

But he loses the battle, as his mother unleashes her tear bag fury! Poor mom, she is worried as her son has reached 30 and is still not married.

So, Chhote Babu has to go and give the girl’s side a visit. In this, he is accompanied by his Mama ji, played by ’’Hum Log’’ fame Vinod Nagpal. Mithilesh is worried and sceptic as he has made up his mind on not getting married and now he has to turn somebody down, which will end up making the family on girl’s side feeling miserable! But his mama silences him by assuring that it might just be the other way round and the girl could reject him as well. Now, to this dialogue, the expressions on Mithilesh’s face are worth catching! Ha ha ha....

Both get a regal reception and our Chhote babu and mama ji are floored by their treatment! Finally, Chhote babu sees ’’Rituparna Sengupta’’. What can I say.....he came, he saw and he was conquered! After a few beautiful conversation and some downpour, the girl says ’’Mujhe Manzoor hai’’.

Another scene where Mithilesh has given remarkable expression depicting his disbelief!

They get married with Mithilesh starting to feel little insecure about the his beautiful wife. Trouble knocks in when Mithilesh’s friend Saleem (University Hockey coach) played by Varun Bandola frequents their flat. Even though, Saleem doesnot seem like a marriage breaker....but our hero has already been clouted by such unwelcome thoughts! Mithilesh is already struggling with seeing himself as someone who doesnot deserve the beautiful wife he has. The difference in looks and heights.....start creeping in and make him insecure with every man who is seen around his wife. This also leads to an ugly exchange of words between the colony guys and Mithilesh.

He finally comes up with a Tried and Tested idea of getting his wife tie Saleem a Rakhi. After that things start looking up...but again our hero gets bogged down by the surprise entry of Kay Kay! He is an old time friend of his wife. Kay Kay is a man of the world! He has a pretty open mind, has way with words and is taller than our Mithilesh! lol

As evident, Mithilesh starts getting uncomfortable in his presence, and starts to think low of himself. he goes as far as to tell his wife that he suspects her and that she has the liberty to go ahead and settle down with kay kay! Now, this is the disaster for Mithilesh, as he misunderstood his wife....and his wife walks away on him!

This movie has been dealt very delicately. I can say this is one clean movie top to bottom. Even the wings of imaginations given to Mithilesh, when he doubts his wife with Kay kay have decency in them.

Mr. Yadav gets five stars for his acting. Surely, the director saw him first and then carved this role for him.

The songs are nice! specially the ’’Guncha’’ and ’’Doob Jana re’’ are good!

The movie reminded me of Amol Palekar and the movies made in those days! Great come back!
