Keep them clean

I have always thrived on keeping things clean, and my fridge is one of them. Have maintained a Voltas Opal for 30 years, of course I was small before and my dad would do the cleaning and maintaining of the fridge then, and as I grew older I started taking over since he was abroad and I was the man of the house. He was a working for Carrier (US) and would send me tips as to how to better handle, in this case any appliances in the house. And now since I am a person who would like to give advice, Here are some tips. Let’s start with todays Refrigerators ’’I hate that word, you have to really think before you type it’’. Gone are the days when we had to defrost the fridges, even though some of them still have to be defrosted. However the big ones dont have to be, they auto defrost. However if you have noticed these frost free fridges have a fan in the freezer and this comes on mostly when you open the lower door of the fridge. This is because the cooling temp at the lower half of the fridge goes down and so to maintain it the fan comes on, pulling the cool air from the deep freeze ’’or the ice box’’ to the lower portion. Now what happens when the freezer is not loaded, or in simple term’s empty. The compressor kicks in and this comes to consume more electricity. Today’s housewife is very intelligent, she knows about this and so makes sure that she opens the lower door of the fridge only when required so that the hubby does not scream at her at the end of the month looking at the elec bills. Here is what you do so that the compressors do not kick in whenever the lower half of the fridge is opened. Load the freezer, in plastic cups keep a lot of water and let it form into ice ’’the more the merrier’’. This will keep the freezer loaded and also make sure the compressor does not kick in when cooling the lower half of the fridge. That takes care of that.

and now moving on to the exterior of the fridge. the rib or the sealant that is a rubber gasket that makes sure that cold air does not leak out when the door is closed has to be cleant regularlr. What I mean is the gasket that seals the door and main fridge has to be cleant. ’’with wanted of course’’ the fridge has to be cleant along with the freezer too. for frost free it has to be done once in three months and for normal fridges once in one month is good. make sure that you also turn the fridge around and cleant the coils of dust so that heat dissipates properly. this will help in internal cooling.

Last but not the least. always make sure that you turn off the fridge when there is a black out. because electricity is such a thing and if you have plugged the fridge into an AC socket there could be a spike and this could damage the fridge..

Tips about AC:if you wish to properly cool a room about 100ft by 100ft buy a 1 and 1/2 ton AC.it will cool it fast and properly and also save on elec.AH and make sure that the room is sealed correcly so that the cold air does not leak outside. if there are windows make sure that you have vaccum shielded glass to seal them from distributing cool air with the outside ambient air.

anytime you have any questions, give me a holler and I will be there. A little bit late but I will surely get there.

thank you
